I read on another site activities at GCH... like pilates, power walking around DCA... is that site still accurate? What are the unadvertised benefits/cool things about GCH?

When you check in they will give you a list of all the activities that are available. When we were there, they had the power walking at DCA in the AM (on certain days), a treasure hunt, story telling by the fire in the evening, and things like that.

Did you or anyone else do the power walking? Is that fun?

We didn't. I wanted to, but I never made it as they were only doing it on certain days and it didn't work out for me. It is prior to park opening (obviously). If you go, let us know how it is. I'll be trying to do it again when we stay there next time.

We did the power walk in December. It lasts about 45 minutes and goes through all of DCA. You must be at least 14 years old.

Matthew&LaurensMom-We will be at GCH in September and have considered the power walk too. Did you enjoy it? Did you get to see any behind the scenes stuff? Was it cool to be in the park with out anybody else? How early was it?

are you allowed to take a camera or are pictures off limits since the park hasnt opened?

I don't remember if you could take pictures or not. It was before the park opens at maybe 7:30 am. You sign up for it at guest services and then you meet a CM that morning at the GCH entrance to DCA. It is a fast moving walk, I think they did confirm that everyone could walk at 15 minute mile pace. You go through most of DCA and they do point out intresting facts along the way. There was about 8 people in our group . It was a fun experince that I would do again but then you are doing alot of walking early and you might need that energy later in the day in the parks!:rotfl:

I would guess that you are not allowed to take pictures as you are not allowed to when you go for the segway tour which is also before park opens.
