Activating Tickets Early - can I use Waterparks and More?

Hi! We are headed to WDW in November, and doing a split stay to take advantage of free dining. I know that I can activate my park tickets from the free dining package up to 10 days early. My question is this:

When I activate the tickets, I would like to also add the water parks and more option, and then use those water park allotments for three days (no park tickets will be used) before the free dining package begins. Is it possible to do that? I assume so, as it becomes part of the ticket that I'm activating early?

(BTW, the reason I need to add waterparks and more in person rather than in advance is that part of our party is not showing up early, and thus won't have WAM on their tickets. Since packages require identical tickets for all, we need to upgrade to the WAM option on-site.)
