I am thinking of buying my DD a program for computer to help get her ready as she does poorly in the reading comprehension sections of tests.

I saw a program for the Nintendo DS-SAT Coach and a program that works with the computer and Ipod-Weekly Reader Critical Thinking program.

Anyone have any experience with these programs? Any other programs you can recommend?

Unless your child is very dedicated to studying--I wouldn't recommend anything except the classes that you have to physically attend. Accountability is key.

The online and self-study classes are great if you do the work. The programs themselves will only work according to the effort put into them.

I vote for either the Princeton or Kaplan classes that a student has to attend in person. My daughter did a Kaplan class, I got a $1,000 class for about $700 when there was a discount for signing up by a certain timeframe. I also went through ebates and got a certain percentage back (amounted to about $30 if I remember correctly.)

We told our daughter that if she attended every class and showed us that she made an improvement overall on her tests, we would give her the $300 we saved. We looked at it as an incentive for her.

I was extremely happy with the Kaplan course (and know Princeton is similiar as I had taken a Princeton course years earlier.)
