Aside from going to the nail salon, what is the best way to remove acrylic nails at home? I have only every had it done at the salon and I want to do it myself. There are several kits you can buy in the store, is one of those good? Or does soaking in acitone polish remover work better??
TIA

Sometimes I just rip them off. It hurts, and it damages the nails, but it gets the job done.

Soaking them in 100% acetone works well if you've got the time on your hands. It's a time consuming process, IMO. Filing, cutting, soaking...starting all over. Basically in my experience when I soak them they come off almost in layers. A bit of a pain in the neck, but there's less damage that way.

I agree that the best way to do it is to soak them in 100% acetone. Cut them down as short as you can and soak them. It is time consuming. When I used to wear them I would cut them and them peel them off as they started to lift. That version gives you a lot of damage though. I have grown mine back in and will NEVER go back to acrylics!

I got acrylic nails last summer and I swore I would NEVER get them again after I took them off at home. I had three bleeding fingers and seven very sore ones. I soaked them in acetone, which made them sort of melt and slimy. It wasn't a very pleasant experience. And my natural nails were horrible for a while.

Whatever the salon charges, to take them off, it's worth it!
