Well, went to the movies with DH this afternoon to see the Matrix Reloaded, which was awesome IMHO (although some of the scenes made my eyes hurt). I went prepared...brought a bag of sliced chesse and pepperoni, a couple of SF Reese's Dark Chocolate bars, and purchased a decent sized Diet Pepsi. But, let me tell you, the darn popcorn just smells sooooo good! What is it about movie popcorn that just makes your mouth water??? I don't eat the stuff at home, but I was practically drooling over DH's! I managed to ignore it, but it was tough! Got a reward later though...went to Bugaboo Creek for an early dinner after the movie and had a nice steak with steamed veggies, garden salad with blue cheese dressing, and a side oder of their sauteed mushrooms. I was in heaven!! I'm glad I don't go to the movies that often though...I don't know if I'd always be able to resist that smell of freshly popped popcorn with that ooey fake butter.

Kathy, I won't even go to a theatre because of the fragrance of the popcorn. Too painful.

I had a steak, salad and grilled shrimp with drawn butter for dinner.

I'm so proud of you for not giving into temptation. You are such a great motivator :)

That is wonderful that you resisted temptation!! I love movie popcorn, but I am avoiding the movies since I started Atkins for that exact reason! LOL

Great job! :)

I'm so glad for you that you resisted temptation. That is SO hard to do sometimes. My DD works at a movie theatre. When she first started there she'd bring home kitchen garbage bags (new, never used :p) full of the stuff left over at the end of the night. I'd eat that bag clean within days. (It stays fresh when tied up tight!). Sometimes I'd take it to school for snacks for the kids. Sometimes I'd share with the rest of the family. And sometimes not:eek: A year ago, she gave the popcorn up for Lent (so did I ;) ) and it rarely makes an appearance now. Only for class "movie days" when she is actually working candy bar. (But I still keep some that I don't share) :teeth:

Oh, that darned movie popcorn!!! We are going to see the Matrix Reloaded when we get back from England and I am GOING TO enjoy a big buttery popcorn when we go. I figure that will be my cheat meal for the week. I know I can enjoy a movie w/o the popcorn (and have in the past) but this is a special treat for me! :) I am really anxious to see this movie! :)

Congratulations for going in prepared!!!! You did a great job!

Popcorn is my #1 trigger food for binging! Especially Kettle Corn. I really have to avoid these. However, I am planning on 12/17/03 - midnight - The Return of the King: I have a date w/ 1 box of Good and Pleanty, one small popcorn and a large water!!!! It's a tradition and I will be maintaining my goal weight at that time. (So what's a week of Induction after an event like that?!)

I don't know about Movie Popcorn, but I heard that McDonald's adds a fragrance to it's french fries to make them smell that way, to sell more. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same way with Movie Popcorn. Just think, do you really want to eat something that they have to add an artificial fragrance to in order to get you to buy it? (okay, ya, me too, but really we should be more careful about what we put into our bodies.)

Popcorn. My DH eats that now, instead of the good stuff!;) Pop a bag, and sneak it into the theatre!;)
