Ack -- should I cancel Palo brunch?

If you're worried about missing on activities I'd say Palo brunch is an activity and an experience in itself. I'm not sure there's anything on the navigator that I'd rather do than Palo apart form the nightly shows..

Second cruise, Alaska. We didn't do adult dining last time. Our reservation is our first full sea day, 12:30. I think I'm having a fear of missing out. What if there's another activity during that time that I really want to do?? Will I be frustrated that I'm stuck at lunch for two hours? (For the record, we live in L.A., so we're not really doing it for the food, per se, more for the overall experience.)

In retrospect I wish I had booked it for our LAST sea day, but live and learn. So what do you think -- keep or cancel? Thanks!

Trust me, you'll be delighted to be stuck in Palo for 2 hours. ;)

You can still try to switch your reservation to the last sea once you board the ship, though.

We were on the 26th June cruise and did palo brunch on the last day. This was my 5 cruise and the first time I had done palo and I loved it. Our booking was for 10:30 and even when we wear leaving there did seem to be plenty of tables avaliable. Check when you board you may be able to change it.

Even when they are FULLY BOOKED there will be some empty tables. For both brunch and dinner.

Staggered reservation times, they want the wait staff to be responsive to your needs / requests, and differing "eating speeds". My guess is that they only Book each table twice per meal (one earlier and one later). And with the empty tables, it will make it quieter and more intimate - Unless me and my crew are in there and we are having a great time (no adult beverages involved)

....when cruising in the Bahamas or Caribbean - You're NOT in EPCOT anymore. This is real life. WAY different than what would be experienced in EPCOT. You will see and smell things that will make you uncomfortable. It's an education for everyone in your traveling party ... no matter how bad we think things are ... we have it pretty good at home.

OMG, this should be applied to anywhere you visit "for real"!!! Excellent advice!!
My first cruise to Nassau almost 20 years ago ... we got off of the ship and started wandering around and in my head I heard: "Toto, I've a feeling we're NOT in Kansas anymore!"

a few years later when we went to Sint Maarten I was "prepared" and it didn't "bother" me as much.

and then a few years ago when in Antigua, after our excursion we walked into town --- and let me tell you that I never felt like I stuck out like this before (and I'm 6'3" 250lbs). Never felt concerned for my safety, but I was way out of my comfort zone (which was a good thing!)

Keep it! We're from LA too, have access to plenty of great food, and Palo brunch is still my favorite meal of the cruise. More fun than anything else on a sea day morning!

So we did do Palo brunch -- it was enjoyable, but I'm not sure we'd call it a highlight. There's a lot to compete with in Alaska! We don't regret it, though.
