Ack -- should I cancel Palo brunch?

Second cruise, Alaska. We didn't do adult dining last time. Our reservation is our first full sea day, 12:30. I think I'm having a fear of missing out. What if there's another activity during that time that I really want to do?? Will I be frustrated that I'm stuck at lunch for two hours? (For the record, we live in L.A., so we're not really doing it for the food, per se, more for the overall experience.)

In retrospect I wish I had booked it for our LAST sea day, but live and learn. So what do you think -- keep or cancel? Thanks!

There will ALWAYS be conflicts. There is simply no way to do everything on a cruise.

Personally I would keep it. But I'd rather do Palo brunch than trivia or Bingo or crafts any day.

There could just as easily be an activity you "really really want to do" on the second sea day.

I'd keep it. It's worth it. Btw, when I did Palo brunch this past December, it only took about an hour.

IMO, Palo Brunch is the best food on the cruise so I would say keep it and enjoy. I certainly understand your concerns however keep in mind you don't have to stay the full 2 hours. You could take some things from the buffet options and put in an order right away for the cooked food, and be done in probably 1 -1.5 hours if you wanted to rush it. Good luck!

Personally, we live in L.A. as well and I wouldn't miss Palo Brunch for any other activity, once you get there you won't worry about anything else you are missing. If you can though, I strongly recommend moving it to an earlier time, as if it is at 12:30, you will still be full at dinner, especially if you have early dining.

And don't eat breakfast beforehand. Palo Bru ch is absolutely worth it, we have decided that we prefer to have it on our first at Sea Day though, as towards the end we have had so much food that we don't tend to enjoy it as much as the first at Sea day, still enjoyable, just more enjoyable the first day.

You can always check navigators for previous cruises to see what else is going on during that time. They don't change too much and should give you a general idea. Enjoy your cruise!

Keep it! You may be disappointed if you don't do it. Sure you may miss a towel animal thing or some tasting but if you wait on those, you'll miss Palo. For us Palo Brunch is one of our main to dos.

Another vote for "keep it".

And it doesn't have to take 2 hours. Just let your server know you want to be out sooner, if necessary.

But, the biggest point I'm making - you don't have to be busy every minute. Take some time to just relax. If that means "missing" a trivia game to enjoy Palo, so be it.

It may turn out you'll want to add a second brunch on that last sea day.

The food, the atmosphere, the service, the blue ocean all around............. Not to be missed!!!!

Enjoy!

Sacré bleu! Cancel Palo brunch?!? No, no.... don't do that. There will always be time for other fun things on board but Palo brunch will be the stuff of memories.

If you have any further doubts, just search these boards and you will see plenty of post where folks wax poetically about the brunch, post pictures of their brunch, compare other dining experiences to their Palo brunch.....

*sigh* Palo brunch. October is just SO far away.....

I know you already said you will keep your Palo reservation, but dining in Palo in Alaska is sooooo relaxing! To watch the mountains slowly go by while relaxing with some nice food and company was fantastic! It was one of our sea days absolute highlights! (Like everyone else said, plenty of time to do whatever else you like....)

We absolutely love Palo brunch! We booked our particular upcoming itinerary just for the 3 sea days...translation for 3 Palo brunches!!! :rotfl2::hyper::jumping2::jumping1:

DD was finally 18 on our Alaskan cruise in 2015. We went to Palo Brunch for the first time on the first sea day and we enjoyed it so much that we booked another one for the last sea day. We were not able to try everything we wanted the first time so we went twice. There are just so many things to do on a Disney cruise that we can never find enough time to do everything. Just check out the personal navigator every day and decide on the must-do things. Then plan another Disney cruise to try things you have missed out! This time on the Fantasy, we plan to relax more and catch up on Disney movies. We have Palo brunch, Remy brunch and Remy dinner planned already. Not to missed activity is going to the gym early every morning to burn the calories gained from all the eating! :thumbsup2

What if there's another activity during that time that I really want to do??

generally speaking, the daytime activies that are very popular and are offered on sea days are almost always offered at other times throughout the cruise as well

if they are that popular and well liked rarely will those things only be offered once

some immutable truths about Cruising Disney ...

1) you can't do it all!! But Sleep is for AFTER the cruise
2) you can't eat it all - but now is the time to try new to you foods.
a) "It's Free" in the MDR's. If you don't like your selection, make another one and they are more than happy to bring you something else.
b) Not everything in Palo or Remy is included in your base price for eating there, but generally speaking, they are much less expensive than on land ... so maybe spread your wings here on some upcharge items.
3) the hardest things about DCL cruises
a) Deciding what NOT to do (see #1 above)
b) waiting for your next DCL cruise
4) when cruising in the Bahamas or Caribbean - You're NOT in EPCOT anymore. This is real life. WAY different than what would be experienced in EPCOT. You will see and smell things that will make you uncomfortable. It's an education for everyone in your traveling party ... no matter how bad we think things are ... we have it pretty good at home.

Another vote for keeping it. Once you board, load up the app and check the activities for the day/time of your reservation. If you see something you can't miss (and I can't imagine what would trump Palo brunch ) then you can probably switch your reservation to another time and/or day.

Palo Brunch is AMAZING. Its by far the best adult dining option in my opinion. Not to be missed!

OMG, this should be applied to anywhere you visit "for real"!!! Excellent advice!!
