ACK!!! Not a good thing that I just washed DD's Pink RAZR in machine! *Update page 2

Just wondering how things went.....(while heading to check all pockets of clothes in our hamper! ;) )

While at WDW last month, my 15-year-old son was playing basketball at night at the Dolphin's bball court, with his silver Razr clipped to his pocket. YEP...it fell out, hit the ground, and one of the hinges broke off! Funny thing was...he could still call out from the bottom half and I could call his phone, but he couldn't hear anything or talk from the top half! He'd had his phone 3 months, and he had been told that he was responsible for replacing it if it was lost or stolen (or got dropped on the basketball court).

My DH started looking on Ebay for a replacement phone. He said even reconditioned Razrs would cost over $100, so he ordered an inexpensive Nokia candy bar phone. When we got home from vacation, DH took the SIM card out of the Razr and put it in the new phone. So - no more cool phone for son.

I will be adding another phone line with the same carrier in a month and will get a new phone. I thought about getting a Razr, then switching phones with my son...then decided he was old enough to live with the consequences of playing bball with cellphone in pocket.

Thanks very much for the nice comments... :)

Well... do have update now.

Went to Cingular store with family before Seaworld afternoon, and learned that "retail" for the phone is (GAG) $360.00.... haha! There internal deal for two year commitment was still $199 for pink RAZR and less for the others. Realized that SSB did get a great deal via Wirefly, as got BOTH my black one and Rebecca's FREE after the rebate... so was good until I washed it... haha!

So... last night was all over Ebay, and finally decided on seller that I liked (27,000 things sold) and bought a new one for just at $200.... supposed to have in 3 days or so... :)

Don't feel bad about not getting insurance for the phone. I have a DD in middle school who has a pink RAZR, and I specifically asked if the insurance Cingular offered me would cover it if I washed it. They told me it would NOT.
(Yes, I washed her last cell phone when she left it in her bed covers. It worked perfectly fine after it dried out- even the camera.)

Just Wondering, Was it a white wash, did everything turn pink. Ha Ha. You did the right thing by going to EBay, Thats where all the 1 year contract phones show up. The SIM card might be fried also. Did you try it in another phone?

SSB - if the battery from the original phone still works, save it for future use. Replacement batteries ain't cheap!

EBAY? Smart shopper! No wonder they let you run the lemonade stand!

Uh-oh! I dont know what to tell you except, good luck! :goodvibes

I see you have learned the lesson I learned last week...to always check pockets. I washed and dried a blue crayon, and now quite a few articles of clothing have melted blue wax on them.

DD12's went through the washing machine today, too. I even CHECKED her pockets, but they were cargo pants and they were in a wierd pocket.

Anyway, the kids took it apart and blew it dry with the blow dryer, and it's working fine now.

My brother dropped his cell in a puddle about three years ago. Took a couple weeks to dry out, but once it did, it was fine.

Too wild... on timing. VERY glad to hear that yours worked out so well.

New RAZR to arrive tomorrow, so very glad to have that... :)

You are not alone. I washed DH's phone about a month ago, and he had to pay retail for a new one. He got the insurance on it this time - he is a carpenter and is really tough on his phone!

ER, UM.... Houston We Have A Problem... need advice.

SSB bought DD Rebecca a pink RAZR (her first phone) as prize for having lead school second year in a row in AR ... and as she moves to middle school next year.

Well, when back home last night SSB did not know still in her clothing, and diligent SSB did his daily laundry... and WHAM! Heard it plunk into the dryer when I was loading that this morning before church!

The bigger question is whether or not the pink RAZR turned the rest of the clothes in the washer PINK!!!

You should know better than mixing colors with whites when doing laundry. :Pinkbounc
