While at WDW last month, my 15-year-old son was playing basketball at night at the Dolphin's bball court, with his silver Razr clipped to his pocket. YEP...it fell out, hit the ground, and one of the hinges broke off! Funny thing was...he could still call out from the bottom half and I could call his phone, but he couldn't hear anything or talk from the top half! He'd had his phone 3 months, and he had been told that he was responsible for replacing it if it was lost or stolen (or got dropped on the basketball court).
My DH started looking on Ebay for a replacement phone. He said even reconditioned Razrs would cost over $100, so he ordered an inexpensive Nokia candy bar phone. When we got home from vacation, DH took the SIM card out of the Razr and put it in the new phone. So - no more cool phone for son.
I will be adding another phone line with the same carrier in a month and will get a new phone. I thought about getting a Razr, then switching phones with my son...then decided he was old enough to live with the consequences of playing bball with cellphone in pocket.
