When I got home today, a FedEx notice was waiting for me. Normally, they just leave the Disney docs. or leave the notice so that I can sign it and leave it out, & they leave the package the next day. No such luck this time! Apparently Disney is now requiring an in-person signature...no leaving a signature or leaving it with a neighbor. Since I have to work to pay for all these cruises, that makes things a bit complicated! We ran out to the local Fed Ex office (a bit of a drive, but at least it's open till 8 p.m.). But we will be making the trek twice more over the next two weeks, since these are the docs. for our three-peat and they are being sent one at a time! I was hoping they would all be together, but no such luck. Has anyone else run into the "in person signature" requirement thing? It wasn't like that for our 4th o July cruise or any of those before it.

I didn't have to sign for my 8/18 docs. The FedEx guy just left them on the porch, rang the door bell and left.

Sorry that you have to go through the trouble, but I am glad to hear that! My Fedex guy did not even knock. My daughter happened to be up when he came, he just left them inbetween the screen door and the front door. We have some really bad problems with gangs and loitering in our condo complex and anyone could have seen him just leave them there! They would have been stolen in a heartbeat! This was after 8:00 at night also!

After waiting (and listening) for the Fed Ex truck for several days, I was amazed to find my documents in a fat envelope in my mailbox - sent by regular 'ole US mail service!

Obviously they got here ok - but does anyone think that it was rather unwise of the travel agency (in Florida) to send them to me this way without being able to trace them?

Hmmm, I wonder if FedEx made an error in their notation that a signature was required. I asked them about it just to make sure, and they said yes, it was a sender requirement. If so, that was definitely a first!
We are in a condo, but our neighbors are great. When something comes UPS or Fed Ex, someone usually puts it on the other side of the locking entry door so that it stays safe. The weird thing is, Fed Ex didn't even put the name on the notice so it could have been for anyone in our building. I got home early, and I suspected it was for the docs. so I took it upstairs and called, but we have a neighbor who gets lots of Fed Ex packages for his business, so it could have just as easily been for him. The tracking number was written VERY unclearly, but fortunately the Fed Ex phone person was able to find it by the address and confirm that the delivery had been for me. I guess this was just the ill-fated delivery! Oh well, the important thing is that they are here safe & sound, and maybe I'll be lucky & they'll just leave the next two as usual.

Wow 2 weeks ago I posted a note on my door telling Fed X to leave all packages at my door and signed my name as giving permission to do so........next day....my Docs!

Oh boy. I don't much care when those things happen to me. Glad you were able to get it ok.

I usually give FedEx a call and have them re-deliver it to my office the following day. They have always done that, but darn if a couple of times they didn't try to deliver back to my home first. Always figured it was just timing.

Barb -- it could have been that whoever at DCL filled out the FedEx slip did not do the form quite right. I use UPS now but I seem to remember that with FedEx, the sender has to sign something to waive the signature requirement (or vice versa, maybe not sign??). In any case, I have never had a problem calling and asking them to deliver at the office. Since you are expecting so many docs in the upcoming weeks, rather than waiting on FedEx, maybe you could call DCL and ask them to send them to you at work rather than home?

When I got my docs in 2001 I was told by the DCL agent that I was going to have to sign for them - made the trek to the FED EX office (for me a 10 minute drive) and picked them up. Since then I have signed a form with FED EX that allows them to leave anything on my porch (it is fenced in) this year I found the docs on the porch....who knows what will happen next year.
