Ack! Animator's Palate knife on eBay!!!

I am ashamed to see that the seller is a Mainer.

Now, if Disney was legitimately selling it for a reasonable price, I might be interested. But I will not buy it via eBay.

It's not your fault. Sadly, there are morons in every state. :goodvibes

I sent a message to the seller about this 2 days ago.
She/he claims that they BOUGHT the knife at the special outlet store for Cast Members, and that it was there because it has an imperfection. Originally, the description did not say that it had an imperfection, so she/he has since revised the description.
If that is the case, then at least the knife wasn't stolen....but I've since learned that CM's are not supposed to sell items that they purchase at their exclusive store.:confused3

Their description makes it sound like it was stolen. Saying things like, An imperfection so small no pic can show it. Makes it sound suspicious. And this person doesn't sound like a CM either since they don't sound very educated in DCL. It says, "Disney Dream Maiden Voyage

Animators Palate Butter Knife

Bid on this RARE Paint brush shaped butter knife on the Disney Dream!"
Well the knifes are going to be used for cruises forever not just the MV. Saying it was on the MV makes it sound like they stole it. This person doesn't sound like a CM. This person sounds like they stole it. So we shall see what happens. pirate:

The seller has auctions for other items from the Dream maiden voyage.

I doubt they were "purchased" at a cast member store.

Well, at least she/he knows I called them on it. And I reported it to eBay. It was suggested that I forward it on to DCL, but I have no idea how to do that.

I have a feeling that with all of the items "walking" off the ship, there won't be any of these special little things by the time I cruise the Dream in late September. Disney will get tired of replacing the knives and the cute red pillows, and the plates that I've seen on eBay, too. :sad2:

I sent the link to Disney so they can look into it. We will see what happens. pirate:

Just email DCL and tell them them the name of the seller on ebay. They can do their own search though they probably already know about it.

Maybe if enough people question the seller, they'll be shamed into removing the item.
:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Sadly, DCL will compensate by just increasing the cruise fares. Oh wait, didn't they just do that?

It is disgusting. I spoke with my travel agent on the phone recently, Her boss was on the Maiden voyage and she was on the next one. Between them they say knives and menus being stolen, knobs from dressers being removed and stolen, and even floor tile pryed up from the elevator floor and taken:scared1: I honestly cannot undersatnd how anyone can act this way:sad2: I really wish DCL would go after such people--including removing them from the cruise when caught and not letting them sail again. If it stops being profitable, idiots will stop doing it and the rest of us can enjoy our cruises.

This is disgusting and very sad. :sad2: I do not know how some people live with themselves. And then people like us ultimately pay the price.

I am in two minds about this. Firstly, if it is stolen it should not be sold - end of. However, if it was purchased by an employee - what can they do? They have legally purchased the item, thus making it theirs. (Disney also makes a good mark-up with the cast discounts) You find a ton of stuff online being sold by employees, and nobody seems to mind. I don't see a huge problem with it TBH.

What I do find disturbing is the amount of things stolen by guests - now that is really what hurts the company. People taking more toiletries than they need and taking them home, people taking menus from the eateries, people taking towels etc. I know that for a while the original ships were replacing around 100 towels a month, each, due to them disappearing. I have also heard that the Dream is having problems with thefts - pillows, plates and surprisingly - the Mid-ship Detective Agency cards!

I agree, however...

I was on the Maiden Voyage and all the menus for that cruise actually said Maiden Voyage on them, not Inaugural Voyages, so Disney couldn't use them for any cruise but ours. So we were allowed to take them with us, our servers even made sure we remembered to take them.

as for everything else, yes it's disturbing what people will steal. I mean I really liked the red Dream pillow in our room, but will wait for the day that Disney makes them available for purchase.

If this was posted on ebay by a cast member, if I remember correctly, they are not allowed to resell items that they purchase on ebay.

I am very sad that we won't be able to experience the full dream experience as well.

This makes me both deeply sad and extrememly angry to know that people have no respect for the ship. I hope Disney can take matters into their own hands and get back some of these items.

On the other hand, I think Disney would be making a really good decision if they decided to start separately manufacturing and selling some of the knives, plates, pillows, etc. for purchase both on and off the ship. White Caps could easily sell them!

I was on the MV and did see different people with boxes of champagne glasses...now whether they were used by family members and the person just needed a box to carry them could be possible but I was surprised. I really don't think the cast was ready for the Type A's on the MV...they looked sort of like deer in the headlights many times when crowds would gather. My friend saw someone carrying a stack of the melamine plates from Flo's Cafe (8 maybe). The crew was giving out the used champagne bottles if people wanted them...they had a Dream inaugural label on them. I had one and then decided to leave it on the ship as it was too heavy to carry home. They were also selling the full bottles in the gift shop for $69.00 a bottle.

What upset me the most about the whole trip (and it was my fault for getting to the port early (well what I thought was early) at 9:30 am) was that there were so many people in front of us that we were just past the overhang of the roof over the pick up drop off area. So when it started raining and the wind started blowing we were getting soaked. My husband just kept giving the look like "I told you we didn't need to get to here so early". I could deal with the weather. What I could not deal with was the people that kept getting dropped off under the roof and then not proceeding to the end of the line. They took one look at the line and they knew it was raining and they would just mingle with the people in the line in front of us. This happened time and time again over the course of an hour so where we may have been 200 back in line at the time we got there.....by the time they started letting people through the gate we were 400 back in line...that was frustrating. I asked the CM's (not the port people) if they could please direct people to the end of the line and they told me there was nothing they could do. What put the icing on the cake was when the DCL buses started arriving and those people just walked right in the terminal from the other side while the whole line of people who arrived via other transportation where not even through the gate yet. Not their fault at all...just the way it turned out....that particular morning arriving by DCL bus was the way to go!!!
