Acid stained concrete floors

We're thinking about doing this in the house we're renovating. How hard is it to do? What's the best method to apply the stain? My SIL did it with a garden sprayer, but hers ended up more spotty looking than mottled like the way I prefer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

what is the floor? I mean what type room?

I think preperation is a big deal when hoping to get a uniform coloring. I would not even begin to hope for that on an aged floor. to many variables.

But I do love the stained concrete look. especially with the high gloss finish. we plan to do that ourselves for the floor on our kitchen remodel. maybe even the counters!!!!
