I was watching CNN when I heard that she admitted to doing it to herself. I had followed her story for awhile. The story is pretty sad because there have been many acid attack related crimes against women whose lives have been wrecked. One well known case is the Katie Piper case.

WHAT??? How messed up is that! I watched her story on the Today Show last week and felt so bad for her. How messed in the head does onehave to be to do that to themselves??

Maybe not a moron but a very disturbed individual. The fact that she doused her face instead of her arms, shoulders or legs, where the scars could be hidden seems like she is mentally ill and not just an attention seeker.

I read stuff like this, and think OMG. I start thinking about my kids being out and some random person throwing acid on them. (yeah, I have OCD and we have terrible thoughts sometimes) Anyway, I am glad it wasn't a stranger, as sick as that sounds, she did it to herself and to me that is better than some random person doing it to her. She needs some serious help. But like I said at least it was self inflicted. That makes me fell better.

People are nuts. And hey we live in Florida, it is natural for us to keep the window rolled up. To hot to have them down.

I remember that when I first saw her photo in the new her expression was very strange. Her whole face is smiling but she has her mouth pulled taut, to hide the smile, but she looks happy. It gave me chills then, but I thought maybe the girl was just on high doses of sedatives or something.

So sad that a person would harm themselves for attention, it's so bizarre. She plainly needs a great deal of professional help.... sad.

She gave a detailed description of the perpetrator, also. I wonder how many women were suspected or questioned due to her "mental illness".

Now she has to look in the mirror daily and see what the perpetrator did to her.

From what I've read from almost the beginning they were pretty sure she had done it to herself, and were investigating from that angle.
Obviously she has serious issues. I remember reading years ago that when men are "damaged" they strike outward (which is why most serial killers/arsonists etc... are male) and women who are "damaged" strike inward (eating disorders, multiple personalities etc...)

Yet they published the suspect's description? Don't they know that causes vigilante justice. If they knew she was lying they should've never released that picture.

WOW this is crazy. And to think that she may have incouraged the copycat act that happend a few days later to another woman. Unreal!!

I truely hope that no one was brought in for questioning about being that attacker especially after a detailed sketch was released of the fantom attacker. Imagine if there was someone out there who is totally innocent that looked like that sketch.

They said on the Today show this morning they suspected from the beginning she was not being truthful. I guess the way her face was burned caused questions since her neck was not touched by the acid, and if it was trown at her, then her neck would have the burns as well. THey also said the fact that she had sunglasses on was suspicious. She claimed she bought sunglasses right before the attack and put them on, even though it was night time. She credited divine intervention, but the authorities thought it was suspicious. they also thought it was odd that she cancelled an apperance on Oprah when she learned she would have to answer to this particular line of questioning.

The part that confuses me is that this suposedly happened in a public place, Starbucks, so wouldn't there have been witnesses? Wouldn't someone have seen her do it to herself?

It is so sad that someone would go to these lengths for whatever reason.

maybe it was a case of them not proving anything yet (as far as real evidence against her) so all possibilities must be investigated including looking for an alleged suspect.
