Ace, Me, & the Guy with CP *An update on Bill Pg. 70*

Hi Tracey-
We're going to be there the same time as you in Nov. 10 days/ 9 nights. We might have to meet for a cocktail!

For the November trip I have scheduled an entire free, sleep in just go around to different resorts day, not park at all. Let's see if Bill tries to talk me out of it :sad2:.
I've planned 3 days of "do nothingness" We don't have AP's is it's easier not to over plan park days.
I am in major trip planning mode. I know it is a while until I can do ADR's but I think we have already figured out where we are going and on what days. I just have to see when they will have the MVMCP the last week we are there.
Any idea of what those MVMCP might be? We leave on the 16th so maybe we will miss them.

PM me if you want to share best park day tips (I have a subscription to the UG one).

Heidi

:yay: Another DISer there in November. Just let me know if you want to do that and we will make a plan.

We went to MVMCP on Nov. 12th this past year, so I would think they would have at least 1 party while we are all there.

PM me if you want to share best park day tips (I have a subscription to the UG one).

That is so sweet of you!! I know we have some days that are set in stone, we are doing Super Soap Weekend again so there will be many DHS days in our future.

We always debate, ponder, and change ADR’s before we get to WDW. I had read about the Tonga Toast at Kona Café and we really wanted to try it. We had also read about Le Cellier and Bill LOVES steak so that was a no brainer to go there.

All the planning goes out the window when you get to sleep late, don’t sleep well, and both don’t want to get up early for an ADR. I cancelled Kona and we went back to sleep. When we finally got up it was Epcot Day # 2. I liked it better when I was in commando mode and we were up early, because this go with the flow plan was driving me insane. We headed to Epcot and saw this:

The Jaminators, it was fun to watch. The kids seemed to love it.

We went through Mouse Gears and picked up some pins:

Bill also tried on a hat, can you tell it is pirate day?:

I always have to take a picture of the Christmas tree:

WDW2007Parkday4003worldshowcasechri.jpg

It wasn’t long and we were in Jolly Old England. We did something I never thought we would. We decided to CANCEL Le Cellier :sad2: . We both were not feeling up to spending all day and night at Epcot. We knew we needed to go back to the hotel relatively early and recuperate from the whirlwind we had been through. It is heck getting old :rotfl:. So what do we do now? We have an extra table service to use.

WDW2007Parkday4006RoseandCrown.jpg

Hmmm, do you think they have any openings? I walk up to the podium and smile sweetly, “do we need to make a reservation or do you take walk ins?” They took walk ins and we were seated within 5 minutes.

We were in the outdoor seating area, here was the view:

I have this picture as my desktop background on my computer.

I know this is odd of me, but before we go on trips I do check out the menus of the restaurants we are going to. Onions are my enemy and I want to see what foods are served to avoid any issues. We weren’t planning on going here, so I was going in blind  . He got orange soda and I had hot tea.

We perused the menu they brought bread out:

The Fruit and Cheese Plate looked like a safe bet for me for the appetizer. Bill chose the Roasted Mushrooms.

For the entrée I ordered Fish and Chips and Bill ordered Tea Time Chicken:

For dessert we both ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding:

We decided to just go exploring around to some of the shops starting with England. I don’t know why we skipped Canada (Canadians please forgive us, I promise we will go there in November). We stopped in the courtyard in England to do a little maintenance on Bill’s wheelchair. I could hear something rubbing one of the wheels. I didn’t want anything to happen to his chair. Bill’s wheelchair has 6 wheels. There are two small ones in the front, two larger wheels toward the back, and two smallest wheels behind the big ones to stabilize him when he is going up hill. The wheelie bar on the right had broken somehow (wonder what he ran into :confused3 ) and I had to figure out how to fix it temporarily so it wouldn’t be rubbing on the wheel anymore.

I assessed the situation and thought I could at least get it off the large wheel. It is made of hard plastic, which snapped back into place smacking my finger. All I could think was “don’t cuss in Disney World, don’t cuss in Disney World”. You have all had that pain that makes you see stars right? Well I wasn’t seeing the gazebo where the British Invasion sing, I was seeing many stars at the moment. Bill was so sweet, he was apologizing to me for my finger getting hurt. I said “you don’t have to say you are sorry, I wasn’t smart enough to get my finger out of the way”. We both laughed and decided to go toward France.

As we were walking over the little bridge on our way to France we saw a photopass photographer. We were thinking about having her take our picture when she approached us. She asked us how we liked our trip. We told her we were having a fantastic time.

I could tell from the moment she walked up to us, she was one of THOSE people, I can spot them a mile away. By THOSE people I mean a person that sees Bill’s wheelchair and immediately thinks he is mentally disabled as well as physically disabled. Her demeanor, the sound of her voice, everything screamed I G N O R A N C E to me. I wanted to say “you should treat everyone the same, unless you are told otherwise”. I guess I am just very sensitive to this. Bill is so intelligent, patient, and sweet to people. He doesn’t seem to get upset when people act like this towards him, which happens often.

She started looking in her bag saying “I have something for you”. Bill just looked up at me, I shook my head. She pulled out a pirate sticker. Now in her defense, we had Pal Mickey dressed up as a Pirate and Bill had on the Pirate jersey I had gotten him from Team Mickey. She asked him if he would like it. “No thank you” Bill said. What would we do with a sticker? I didn’t think that would could have given it to some little boy or girl in the park, I was in defensive mode at the moment. She then tried to give it to him again, stating he could put it on his tray. Bill again said “No, thank you”. Bill’s wheelchair is an extension of his body, which includes his tray. He didn’t want to go back to his Master’s classes with a Disney Pirate sticker on it. A family came up to her wanting their picture taken, we told her goodbye and were on our way.

Bill always has to calm me down after these encounters. I was saying things like “Disney needs to train their employees better; I think I need to tell her how she doesn’t need to do that anymore. No means NO!!” Bill was giggling and telling me to let it go, so I finally did. We arrived in France, boy getting from England to there took NO TIME, lol. We looked through the shops again, were too full from lunch to get any pastries and started heading toward Morocco when Bill saw Beauty and the Beast. There was a little line and Bill kept looking at them. I asked him if he wanted a picture with them, he said “yes, if you wouldn’t mind”. I told him no that is why we are here to have fun!!

We got in line and I was afraid that the Beast would have to take off before we got up there, but I was wrong. I loved how Belle kept calling Bill a prince and the Beast kneeled down to Bill so he wouldn’t have to break his neck looking up at him.

WDW2007Parkday4013BillBelleandtheBe.jpg

Morocco was forgotten, because we wanted to get to the American Pavilion to see the American Adventure we had never done this before.

WDW2007Parkday4015AmericanAdventure.jpg

We were early for the next show and we wandered around at the exhibitions. A lovely lady walked up to us saying she would take us upstairs on the elevator, but she had to do something first. She asked us our last name. So I just told her Bill’s, it is just easier doing things that way. She came back with this:

WDW2007Parkday4016MagicalMoment.jpg

WDW207Parkday4016BillatAmericanAdve.jpg

I can’t believe it, we got a Magical Moment. We were The First Family of the American Adventure!! Isn’t it silly how happy a piece of paper can make you feel if it has Minnie, Mickey, the castle, and the word “Magical” on it?

She took us upstairs and we watched the pre show, I had forgotten the Voices of Liberty only perform on certain days :sad1: . She led us first to the theater. She also told the crowd that we had to go in first. We moved all the way to the end and when she got on the microphone she introduced the “K family from Southern Illinois”. Everyone looked at us and Bill waved at them. I kept saying “I can’t believe we were first for anything”. I knew we were tired, but this show was making us down right sleepy. We both kept drifting off. I giggled and said “we are the First Family and not setting a good example”. The show was finally over and we started walking again.

I saw the Food and Wine fest booth for Germany and got an Apple Strudel for us to share. I also got the wine that accompanied it.

WDW2007Parkday4021BillatGermany.jpg

I see now I was being a horrible Mommy, look how close that wine glass is to Mickey :scared1: !! Please don’t take away my PALental rights.

We just kept walking enjoying the World Showcase, it is just beautiful to us. It was getting close to sunset, the wind was picking up, and it was starting to get chilly. I only wanted to do one more thing. Norway was calling my name, I wanted to smell the Laila perfume and see what the schoolbread was all about. The Laila smelled heavenly to me, but I didn’t buy any and we did pick up some schoolbread (that ended up in the hotel room never to be eaten).

I thought too late about taking some sunset shots, but got this:

WDW2007Parkday4024sunsetatEpcot.jpg

We went back to Pop got counter service meals for dinner and just settled into the room early. Ahhh, if feels like home.

NEXT INSTALLMENT… MGM (Disney Hollywood Studios) for the first of 4 days and why is the Boma waiter carding Bill?

Mickey doesn't appear to mind the wine. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
PS-if you want Tonga Toast but not the early ADR, you can have it at the Poly's counter service.

Great job Tracy, but you didn't tell us if you liked your meal!

You did well making it around the world and getting good pics.

I'd struggle with the go with the flow, lack of schedule too. You did well!

Mickey doesn't appear to mind the wine. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Bill wouldn't even let him have a sip, I thought Mickey might have a good nap if he had one, but Bill said NOOOO :confused3.

Bill said he would give the Rose and Crown a 7, I liked it. I didn't eat all that fish though, too much for me. The sticky pudding was a little different, we enjoyed it a lot.

PALental rights-that's a good one! :lmao:

I love the fish & chips at England. We had a bird steal one off our table once when we were eating outdoors. At the same meal, Trey was holding a french fry up while he was eating it and a bird snatched that too. He was so sad. He looked at me and said, "French fry's all gone Mommy!" :sad1: He looked like he lost his best friend.

I love your pictures! You do a great job. Buzz thinks he's an excellent photographer, but I think I'm better. ;)

It's hard to forget and get over ignorance. We were in the store yesterday and Trey was standing in the middle of the very wide aisle that is perpendicular to the check outs. I wasn't paying attention to him too closely as I was chatting with the checker. I heard this voice saying, "Excuse me!" I didn't pay attention to it. Then I heard it a few more times, gradually getting louder. I looked over and she'd pushed her cart right up behind Trey, who at that moment was "zoning out" staring at something that caught his eye. I said, "Trey, come over here please." She pushed her cart so close up behind him that he fell over it in his rush to get to me. The lady shook her head and pursed her lips and was clearly annoyed like Trey did it on purpose.

It took all the patience I could muster not to walk over to her and explain that he's disabled and she had PLENTY of room for her cart. I don't know why she pushed it right up behind him like that. :confused3 The aisle was totally empty when he walked out there-he was there first. There was tons of room on either side of him. She could've gotten two carts side by side past him on either side! Maybe she was trying to prove something, but I don't know what it could've been.

I also had an incident where this guy was yelling at Trey in a toy store. I rushed over there and he wasn't doing anything but watching his daughter ride one of those little rides by the exit. As soon as I got there, he started talking all sweetly to Trey. I didn't confront him, but what I did to him later well, let's just say I probably shouldn't repeat it on a forum. I think it was kind of bad.

Buzz had a friend who very mean to my friend that was disabled-story for another time. I made a complete idiot of myself b/c of this jerk. :sad2: It gets me all revved up when people are rude like that, but I guess no matter what people can be rude even if one isn't disabled.

Love your pins. We are about a month out from our DL trip. Reading your TR makes me soooo excited to get back to Disney!!

That was so cool that you got the magic. I love stuff like that! We still have our Dream Fastpasses that we got 2 years ago. :cloud9:

So glad to hear from ya. Sorry you didn't get to Kona or Le Cellier... there is always November, right?
I'm with you and the CM speaking that way to Bill. I would would be in total defense mode too.
Glad you had a nice linner at Rose and Crown.

I am enjoying your report, read the whole thing yesterday! I am really looking forward to hearing about SSW. I have been in WDW for the last 2 years during this but DH would have a fit if I spent our vacation stalking soap stars! :rotfl2: Last year I did sneak away long enough to catch Luke and Laura take the stage! Great moment!!!

Can't wait to hear more!

So nice to see another update Tracy! I am very impressed with your ability to abandon "the plan" and just go with the flow. Sometimes it makes for a much more enjoyable day. I will try to remember this next time. :rolleyes1

Your pictures are fantastic! :thumbsup2

I'm really glad you didn't lose your PALental rights. They wouldn't do that the First Family anyway, would they?

We've never tried Rose & Crown but we love fish/chips and maybe we'll try that on our next trip in 4 months. We did eat at Le Cellier and were very disappointed this trip so maybe you made the right choice after all.

And the CM with the pirate sticker. Well she's lucky you didn't take it and then stick it to her forehead. My father has a physical disability and it really irks me when people treat him that way too. He's like Bill, kind of rolls with the punches, but I'm very sensitive to it.

It doesn't look like there are many people at Epcot in your photos. Was it that empty or are you just a good photographer?

great update and pics. I ate at R&C once. it was good.

Wow! I was really taking a good look at the photos. Mr. Bill has some amazing baby blues!

Great pictures.
Bill looks great in all the pirate stuff.
Pal Mickey and the wine.:lmao:

Another fabulous update!!Even if you did cancel Le Cellier. I think that is an offense that will show up on your permanent record on the Dis.

However , Rose and Crown food looked marvelous!!! Did it taste as good as it looked?

I'm sorry about the photographers ignorance. :sad2: I hope I have never been guilty of something like that unknowingly.

Your pictures are beautiful! Especially the sunset.

Lynn

Hi Tracy and Bill! So glad to see you're enjoying EPCOT so much--its my fave park! We have yet to go with ADRs, we just see when we're hungry and what we're in the mood for. However, I love to eat at Morocco. But I've read so much about Le Cellier we may just have to try it!

I know what you mean about the servings of fish and chips. We usually do CS in England, and we just share the individual serving. But that's because we're planning what to eat at the Patisserie in France.

Oh Tracy, I KNOW THOSE PEOPLE. I don't know which annoy me more, the ones that think my BF is mentally challenged or the ones that stare at him uncomfortably. Or the ones that think I'm his nurse. Or the ones that think we both must be deaf and can't hear what they're saying about us. GRRR...its just so frustrating to deal with their narrow minded thinking and prejudices. But really, they can't help their stupidity. They just don't know our happiness.

Great installments! Looking forward to the next one!
