Tracey - Apparently, you got my fridge!!! YOu had two and I couldn't get one to save my life!!! At least they never charged me for the fridge that never showed...

I am also glad you got Mr. Likeshisjob, rather than his arch nemisis at ASMu, Mrs. Hatesherjob. But, like you, I was able to get into my room before 2pm.. So I can't complain too much!!!

Those roses are so pretty! Someone needs to clue djlexus in on this for our trip in january...LOL! So glad to see the positive things about POP as we will be there in January and in March! I am so excited! Ready for Christmas?!

Hey Tink, those roses were even prettier in person and lasted almost the whole time we were there. We loved POP and will probably be staying there the next time we go to WDW. We can stay longer if we go there . We are getting ready for Christmas, still trying to figure out what to get Bill's dad . How are your Christmas things coming along?

It looks like you were just down a ways from where I was in June. I was in 5115. It was a great location. You couldn't hear the noise from the pool, but still very close to Classic Hall and Everything Pop. I sat on that bench in your picture a few nights just enjoying being on vacation.

No problems at check in Stuff arriving on time Sounds good so far.

Hi Jordan, yes we were really close to things, but it was still quiet. I loved it at night there. I need to just sit and enjoy more though.

Hi Amy!! You have no idea how worried I was when that CM was typing. I was saying over and over in my head "please let it be ok, please let it be ok", I never expected it to go so smoothly and then to have all the stuff come to the room at once. Bill is wonderful.

Sorry this is so long, but heck I have to get through our first day in Disney.

Bill was so happy to be in Florida again. With his CP he is cold most of the time. He also has a persistent cough in Illinois that he does not have in Florida. He just loves to sit in the sunshine. We only waited about 15 minutes for the bus to DTD. The bus driver liked that I tied lime green ribbons where the hooks to tie down the chair should go.

Bill didn’t want any breakfast before we got on the plane so we hadn’t eaten anything all day. I had heard good things on the DIS about the Earl of Sandwich. We decided to try it out. I kept changing my mind on what to get, but we got finally our things and went to sit at one of the outside tables. One view was “Once Upon a Toy”, another view “Disney’s Pin Traders” (an evil shop, you will see why in a minute) .

I had The Earl’s Club:

Bill had the Hawaiian BBQ:

We both liked them a lot. It was so relaxing just to sit there and know we had all that time ahead of us. We talked about where to go first. Once Upon a Toy looked like a good place to start. We walked in and saw this:

Many people were building light sabers. I asked Bill if he wanted one, he LOVES Star Wars. He looked around and said “no”. I couldn’t believe it. I would have bet money he would have wanted one. We decided to look around the store. He wasn’t really interested in anything until we got to the “Pirates” display. There was an 18 inch motion sensored Captain Jack. He had been eyeing it earlier at Everything Pop. I asked “why”, he said “I don’t know I want it” . Captain Jack got sent back to the room. (shame it wasn't the real Captain Jack )

Next was Pin Traders. I blame it all on Donna Lynn aka apirateslife4evr. That wonderfully sweet woman sent us two lanyards and 26 pins before our trip. (You can read about it here if you don’t know the story A Huge Thanks to apirateslife4evr!!!)We walked in to Pin Traders and Bill was in Heaven. He was in search of Star Wars pins, he got 3 and a Kermit the frog pin.

I got a Walt Disney Partners one and a Minnie Mouse one:

Ok we dropped about $65.00 to Pin Traders, but WHO CARES we are on vacation!!


The lanyard was in our checked luggage so I purchased another lanyard. Here is Bill with the new Pins:

The next stop was World of Disney, that chaotic store that I dread going into. It is always jam packed when we go and guests are rude there. If you ask them politely to move so Bill can get out of a section you get evil eyes. We are in Disney people, keep your evil eyes AT HOME!! I just took a deep breath and we keep going. We were only looking for one thing, a mug with a lid and a handle for Bill. (We had one before we left, but it fell off his tray and broke ) He doesn’t have much strength in his hand to hold a regular glass, but give him a mug with a handle and he has no problems. He picked a blue one that has a picture of Goofy. It says “I’m Goofy, what is your excuse?” We made our way out of the mob and checked the time. We could go to one more store before dinner.

Arribas Bros. looked as good as anywhere else. I loved looking at everything and of course everything I loved was outrageously expensive . We did find a little figurine of a dog that looked like Bill’s parents dog, Henry. We bought it and had it sent back to the room. I love that we don’t have to carry everything around. It was time to get our behinds over to Cap’n Jacks restaurant for some grub!!

I forgot we had to go down a ramp so Bill could get to the restaurant, so we had to back track when we walked up to the stairs. We were a little early for our reservation, but I do that for a couple of reasons.

# 1: We might get in early, therefore getting back to our Disney adventures more quickly, and
# 2: I need to relay to the CM when I check in that Bill is in a motorized wheelchair. (Yes, I told them every time I made an ADR, but I think they don’t understand the “motorized” part.)

I think they imagine it is a manual chair that just slides right up to the table and is out of the way. His battery case sticks out a bit behind the chair. Many people tripped on it throughout the trip. I understand that the tables are close together in the restaurants to accommodate more guests, BUT do they honestly expect Bill to slide his chair in some of the place they try to seat us? I just inform them that will not work. They are also politely told I would rather sit next to him than across. This way it is easier to cut his food, etc. and I am not getting up and down through dinner.

The hostess placed us at a little two topper in an awkward corner that would have had Bill’s chair right in the walk way for the waitresses. I guess the waitress saw the look on my face and said “wait a minute honey.” She talked to another waitress and they moved us to a table that sat 4 with so much more room for Bill to get in and out. I can’t tell you how many times I said thank you to those two women that night.

Bill is a self proclaimed Mt. Dewaholic. He seems to go into withdrawals by the end of our Disney trips. So he has to decide what to drink when we are there. Hmmmm…. Coke, Coke, or Coke? Ok, that isn’t fair they have more than that, but not much Bill likes. I asked if they had cherry Coke? The waitress said they did!!! YAY, for us!! What she fails to mention, it is not the cherry Coke we are used to, it is the Coke with that cherry flavoring added in !! I can deal with this, I can drink it, we are in Disney, this nasty weird not so cherry flavor is not going to ruin our good time.

I always put Bill’s drink in his cup. The waitresses will walk by after they have given us our drink order and their eyes bug out, because they think Bill has sucked down 3/4th of a soda already. I explain we don’t need another one, but thank you.

Bill hardly ever does appetizers, I got a salad. For the entrée, he ordered the twin lobster tails:

We both enjoyed our food!! For dessert we got the White Chocolate Raspberry New York Cheesecake.

YUMMY, YUM. Bill LOVED it. We decided it was time to go and thanked the waitresses one last time.

We decided to head over to Team Mickey. I had a sports freak with me, did I really think I would get to DTD and not go to this store? We looked at many things, especially Indianapolis Colts gear. They were undefeated and set to play the undefeated Patriots the next day. There had been much debate between the two of us as to whether to go somewhere with a TV and watch the game. We were going to Epcot the next day, I had even suggested going over to the ESPN Club, Bill said “No”. HUH?? WHAT?? You are the football freak, I am more than happy to go watch the game and he says no.

I now think it was because of me, not because we were in Disney and he just wanted to make me happy… NOOOOO. It was that he was afraid of my enthusiasm when I watch the games. Seems like something comes over me and I think the players can hear me yelling at them through the screen. Seems I might get a little too excited and Billy boy might have gotten embarrassed, add that there were tons of Pats fans everywhere, he decided it was best to just vacation .

Bill looked at many things in Team Mickey, but ended up with only wanting one thing… a Pirates of the Caribbean Hockey Jersey. I thought it was cute, so why not? It was an early Christmas present from me . ( I have pics of him wearing it, later in the TR)


We left Team Mickey and made one last stop before going back to Pop. I love going into Disney’s Days of Christmas. Bill’s mom had talked about making our tree all snowmen this year so I was on the hunt for snowmen. (Bill’s parents keep all the Christmas gear at their house, she has decorated for him for years, and I was NOT getting in Mama bear’s way and aggravating her. You have to compromise to have a happy family.) We looked at so many pretty things and I found my snowman:

Our last purchase was finally made and we went to the bus stop. Pop’s bus stop is close, YAY!! We were a bit tired, I wonder why?? Bill had only been up since 4am and me since 3:45am. I still had to unpack everything when we got back to the room. We had a quick uneventful bus ride back to Pop, went into the room, and saw all the bags. Why did I pack this much stuff?? We are staying 10 more days that’s why!!

People with evil eyes!!! I can give them right back!!! But I try to just smile a big smile and kill them with kindness, for instance when a lady stepped right in front of us and was not going to move, scared to death that Braeton was going to get in front of her precious children that were jumping and running all over the place, we were actually trying to turn around anl leave and se moves right in front of us and starts to say something she said you people can....and the front wheels hit her feet and she hops alittle to the side . I said "Thank you Ma'am Sometimes these chairs are alittle hard to manuever in tight places. I appreciate your help." Like she was moving to help us out or something. She did duck her head and blush
Anyway, I love those pins!! And WOW ya'll had a BIG day! I think we also might have had the same bus driver once!!!

Tracy and Bill, I love the way your TR is going. What a wonderful way to start my dreary Monday morning!

I've started my own TR, but after reading yours, I"m totally intimidated. How do you remember to take pictures of everything? I'm so bad at that.

Bill does look really happy. I think you should always start a trip with a little shopping, its kinda like getting your feet wet. I also think sending things back to the room is convenient and wonderful, but then you get back to your room and you're like, "OMG, how am I going to get all this home?". Its so dangerous!

We're thinking of maybe a trip onsite in September. Its good to have your opinions/experiences to rely on. I'm paying close attention to the details!
