Ace, Me, & the Guy with CP *An update on Bill Pg. 70*

Hello all! I just stumbled upon this thread and just caught up on all the pages. My BF has CP too and we're planning our second trip to WDW this November for his birthday. Last year we went for my birthday in December, and we just fell in love with all the decorations. Although we'd been together for 2 years by that time, the idea of tackling WDW was really intimidating! He uses crutches, but WDW being so large and so encompassing, I tried to get him to rent a wheelchair, but his ego wouldn't have it! After two days and many blisters, he finally gave in and the trip took a turn--we really began to have fun then!

So now we're planning our second trip, the second week of Nov so we can attend MVMCP on Nov 15th. We were both quite impressed how well WDW handled his needs. Our only issue was trying to get on the Buzz Lightyear ride--those rolling walkways were going way too fast! The CM didn't slow it down for us--it was almost a disaster!

Obviously, this pre-trip/love story rang pretty close to my heart. I just see a great man I love, but others are not so forgiving. We have a happy, teasing relationship, and some people thing I'm his mean nurse! But we both have a snarky sense of humor and make each other laugh. Some people think I'm crazy or limiting myself for being with him, but I think I'm the lucky one!

Please keep the updates coming...its so inspirational for me and I'm cheering you on with every entry! Thank you for sharing your lives with us!

Nice cliffhanger ..... :)

Thank you, the key to a good soap opera is the cliffhanger.;)

Hi DisMomAmy, I will be uploading another installment sometime today.

Yeah, but I served my time for that, so he shouldn't hold that against me!:rotfl2:

You mean to tell me you are the reason I don't get to see Steve Burton's gorgeous blue eyes??? Poohtigeey, how could you do that to meeeee??? :rotfl:

Hello MagiKitty  !! So great to hear from another woman that loves a man with CP. Bill is the best thing that ever happened to me besides my son. I hope you enjoy WDW as much as we always do.

As I last left off Bill had just said the word “vacation” to his parents. Who do they look at for the explanation?? Why me of course. I don’t know what was going through their heads at this point. Bill and I have been many places they know about. Concerts that Bill likes “the hair bands”, concerts I like “country”, and all sorts of sporting events. They know Bill loves to go places. I don’t think they thought we were going to tell them we were traveling almost 1900 miles round trip.

I look at them all excited and talk to the Dad, yes his Dad the fun loving, adventurous one. “We are doing to Disney World”. I sit and wait for the reaction. My eyes bounce back and forth like I am watching a tennis match from his Mom to his Dad, back and forth for what seemed like an eternity before anyone spoke. (Ok it was actually probably less than a minute, but I was freaking out inside). :scared:

His Mom, who was sitting right across from me, looks me in the eye and says “That’s a good idea, why not?” I could have fallen off the chair. I seriously couldn’t breathe, I was happy, excited, smiling… hey wait a minute!!! Bill had told me she would freak out, that things would not be pretty, but here she is smiling and seemingly happy about the situation?? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE :confused3 ?

Bill had been to Disney World twice with personal aides, there were problems on these trips, one being that one of his PA’s had lied about how much money he had brought on the trip. Bill had to help him out while they were there and Bill’s parents were livid about it. Bill also knew his Mom would be very worried about how I would handle everything from the planning, to the luggage, to helping him, to me getting too tired out etc. He just wanted to not have issues with his parents. I understand it, but in all this panic I had become a nervous wreck. I now know to just be upfront and let the chips fall where they may.

I had stated that I had been worried to tell them and they asked why? I told them I knew they were upset about the other Disney trips and they said “it is different he is with you now.”

What is a person to do that gets a positive response? Talk obsessively about the upcoming trip of course :hyper2: !! Talk about how many days we are going, how we have transportation to and from the airport (they love the Magical Express idea), I threw in the SSW stuff (his Mom watches the ABC soaps, she was actually excited when I said Susan Lucci’s name) and tell them about the deal we got on the vacation package. I told them about waiting for the “Ding” on Southwest to get a good airfare, and I also told them about the MVMCP . Verbal Disney vomit was spewing out of my mouth (ok that was a bad visual but you get the idea :rotfl: ).

His Mom has seen me get good deals on hotels, etc. before, she stated I needed to be the one to book their vacations from now on :thumbsup2 . We got back to the apartment and I had to drag out all my Disney planning things. I showed her the Passporter, told her about Open Mouse and how I won a new free Passporter. I explained to her how I had researched rides to see which one’s he would not have to transfer out of his chair for. She couldn’t believe the planning and research I had done. THANK GOODNESS FOR THE DIS!!! :disrocks:

His Mom is into doing scrapbooks and let me tell you she is amazing at it. She got all excited about helping me do my first scrapbook. We went to Hobby Lobby and checked out their stash of stuff. It was amazing how happy she seemed to be that we were doing this. She told me she is so much more relaxed that Bill has me. She doesn’t have to worry about him getting sick in the middle of the night and him not having anyone to take care of him. She can finally rest, her saying that made me cry :sad1: . She said she can tell how much I love him.

When we got back to the apartment, his parents started telling Bill to not wear me out everyday trying to do everything. They said I don’t have wheels and he needs to stay at my pace. Thank goodness they said that because the last two times we were in WDW we had issues, lol. In the morning I am bright eyed and full of energy ready to go and he is putt putting with me always asking him to keep up, then later in the day I am dragging and he is speeding down the walk ways. Again this shows how opposite we are.

It came time for them to leave and they said they were so happy for us. I have been on cloud 9 ever since :cloud9: and finally more relaxed about the trip. Things were falling into place.

Next installment…When will the details of SSW come out??

Yay! I'm so happy for you guys!:flower3: I love reading your updates! Keep them coming!:) Can't wait to hear SSW details too! I'm trying to wean myself off of OLTL, but GH is a little harder to do! (Is Elizabeth leaving the show?)

As far as I know Elisabeth Herbst (Elizabeth, GH) isn't leaving the show. She is supposed to be at SSW.

Those advertisements for the Soap Digest, etc get me every time! They word things in a way where you think something that's not true!

Soap Opera Digest is always twisting things to make it look like someone is leaving. I have some online sources for spoilers :lmao: that I trust. I am a manager in a small soap group and we don't listen to SOD ever, LOL.

OOO, good to know! I'll have to keep you in mind if I have questions!!! I try to avoid spoilers because I like to be surprised! I like to yell at the TV, "NO WAY!" Oh, by the way, I watch at night on SoapNet. Not when I'm supposed to be homeschooling!!!!:rotfl:

Love that! :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm so happy for you that Bill's parents were so accepting and excited for you guys! I'm sure that made you feel great and a big load off your shoulders!

Yes it did make me feel great, before we told them I felt like a cloud was hanging over the trip. Now I am free to just smile and giggle for no other reason than I am thinking about being in WDW!!!

I don't know about being ready to be mrsksomeday, but she does like the way the things are. Every time I think about that conversation I tear up. I am glad she opened up to me.

I got choked up reading your entry! I know I'm in love, my BF knows he's in love, but sometimes when others recognize it, is just so special. Its the little victories that we're just a "normal" couple that makes my day. I'm so glad that the hard stuff is over for you...so let's get on and start getting crazy about our upcoming trip! Woo-hoo!

Yes, feeling like a "normal couple" is wonderful. That is another thing I love about Disney, no one treats me like his nurse or aide there. We are just like any other loving couple enjoying our vacation there.

Just got caught up on your pre-trip report:goodvibes
Subscriing and waiting for morepopcorn::

Hi disneyeeyorefan!!! Thank you so much for joining us.

YEAH:cheer2: So glad the parents didn't give you any grief, let the planning roll on.

My Mother, Ann, died March 18th, 1992 from complications of Breast Cancer.
Sadly, she had ignored the signs her body had given her and would have lived IF she had gone to the doctor in time.
I urge every woman in this group to do self exams, get mammograms, and ask family members to do the same.
I urge every man in this group to talk to the women in their lives about this disease.
Men are not immune from Breast Cancer either, if you think something is wrong go to the doctor please.
