Ace, Me, & the Guy with CP *An update on Bill Pg. 70*

I had been with Tracy a little over a year and I was in the mood to go back to Disney World. I knew Tracy and Josh would both enjoy it. The problem was getting those two convinced that it was a good idea. Tracy likes to worry about money, but I don’t worry about it at all. I told Tracy we could make payments every month and that helped to ease her mind (a little bit).

I wanted to go around Josh’s 17th birthday because I knew he had never been before and I wanted to give him a birthday he would always remember. Unlike clothes that he could wear out or out grow, he would have these memories the rest of his life. I think both of them were not sure about going. One reason was they had never been on a plane before and another reason was they thought WDW was more for kids. I knew better, it is a place for family and friends of all ages, but you have to be a kid at heart.

The day before we flew we stayed at the Marriott in St. Louis. Tracy loved the beds there, she said we should just go there so she can sleep. I might have to ask the hotel where they got the mattresses:thumbsup2 . When I see the airport and can hear the planes that is when I start to get excited.

Tracy and Josh were a little bit nervous when they heard the engines revving up. Then when we started going up in the air and the plane was climbing Josh started to complain about his ears :sad2:. The rookies had to look out the window, me I was stuck in the middle between them. The flight was a little over 2 hours to get to Orlando.

As you know we have to take the fake monorail to get to where we were going. That was the second ride of the vacation. Then we had to find the elevator, you would think between the 3 of us that wouldn’t take that long, but it did. Then we had to find the people with the big Mickey hand and the Magical Express.

One of my favorite memories of the trips is when Tracy was complaining about how far we had to walk to our room at POFQ, because she forgot I had booked a water view. I thought it would be nice to look out and see the water and take walks there. I knew Tracy would be stressed out so I decided to buy her a bath gift basket. It was waiting in the room when we got there. Tracy cried, I always make her cry:sad1: . The next day Josh started taking pictures of every palm tree he saw. I am not sure why, but I guess it was he had never seen one in person before.

At MGM we went on all the attractions we wanted to. There were cheerleaders everywhere and Josh was having fun watching them. Josh wouldn’t go on TOT by himself, but was nice enough to go on Star Tours with me. He is not a big fan, but he did it for me. We decided to go to see the Little Mermaid, none of us knew there was a little misting action. It would be nice in the summer time, but in February it was a little bit too cool. I get cold very easily. When Josh felt the water come down him he said some words that are not very appropriate in WDW. We both told him “there is NO cussing at Disney World!!!” Well we went to Sounds Dangerous and the water thing happened again. Josh said the same words again and we said the same thing back again. We went on the Backlot Tour and at the end went through to see the costumes and the shop. Josh found an “Oscar” and asked me to hold it for a picture. It said “World’s Greatest Father”. Tracy was crying again. I went on to give my acceptance speech right in the store. Tracy and Josh were cracking up:rotfl2: .

Next day was Epcot. It was freezing cold. It was so cold Tracy bought a jacket. That is NOT normal. I am always cold, she is always hot, but not that day. It felt just like home. We went to go on Ellen’s Energy ride and the CM said I could not take my power chair. I had done this on previous trips but he was adamant that I had to transfer to a manual chair. Josh would not let Tracy transfer me and he pushed me into the queue and onto the ride. I thought that was awesome that he took the initiative. We spent most of that day inside. Josh liked the Innovations pavilions. We toughed it out to watch Illumations. The World Showcase was like ghost world that night. We hardly saw any people.

The next day was Animal Kingdom and Josh’s birthday. The things I remember most about this day are: Going to the Festival of the Lion King because they asked if anyone had a birthday and Josh was not going up there until he saw some cheerleaders heading for the floor. I said “what are you waiting for, make your move”? He laughed, but he went up there.

It was cold that day too. Here is a picture of Josh and I with EE in the background:

We went on the Safari. Josh took pictures, while Tracy held onto me. I bounce around in my chair on that ride, but I love it. We took the train to Rafiki’s Plant Watch, we looked around, and went in the petting area. We were told the goats like wheelchairs and one ran right up to me. We went around in there and one was asleep on the ground. I wasn’t waking up for anything, Tracy even bent down and gently moved his head so I could pass by. He still didn’t wake up. He was the laziest goat I have ever seen.

We went DTD that night to Planet Hollywood. Josh liked it. We went into the stores and Josh picked out some clothes for his birthday. We tried on a bunch of hats.

Here is Josh showing his secret true identity:rotfl::

The next day we walked into Magic Kingdom for a lunch ADR at Tony’s and one store and Josh wanted to leave:confused3 . We went back to MGM. Here is a picture of Josh, Donald Duck, and I. Josh looks so happy doesn’t he ;) ?

The next day we went home. Every thing went fine, except for Josh’s ears. They were bothering him very much on the way home. So much he said he didn’t want to go on a plane again.

To this day Josh goes on and on about that trip, to us, to his grandparents, to his girlfriend.

That was the plan, to give him memories for a lifetime.

Next time I will talk more about Tracy and our trip last November because Josh didn’t go on that one:lmao:.

Great installment Bill. Sounds like a fun trip and you created some great memories for Josh. I loved that he kept taking pictures of the palm trees! :lmao:

See why I love  him so much?? He wants to make memories for my son and he is hilarious :thumbsup2 .

Hi Bill and Tracy! I'm so enjoying your trips down memory lanes. This trip (Nov 10-17th) will be the second to WDW for my BF and I. Its a little under a month now, we're booked for our Illuminations cruise and have our MVMCP tickets. I just have to wait a little while to book the GF Photopass session.

You haven't watched The Dark Crystal?! I absolutely love it, and have enjoyed showing my neices and nephews the wonderful world of Jim Henson. Here's a hint: "Of course not, you're a boy!"

Is it too soon to pack? :rolleyes1 Looking forward to the next entry...have a good day everyone!

I am glad you brought up the photo pass session...Do you know where I can get more details about that and cost I would love for my bf and I to have something special like this done!

With the trip being just my BF and I, its hard to get us both in pictures, so I figured the GF was the perfect answer! there's a poster on here called BradK who has a fairly exhaustive Photopass explanation...but this is what I know so far:

GF has a sitting fee: $50 if you don't prepay the Photopass CD, or $25 if the Photopass Cd is prepaid. You can make an appointment 30 days in advance---so I'm trying to make an appointment for Nov 14, so I call Photopass on Oct. 14. There sessions are done at the top of the hour, I believe from 10 to 8pm, but I'm not positive. The session lasts about 30 minutes, with the photographer taking approximately 40 shots around the Grand Floridian.

I'm hoping to do this next month, so if you're going to WDW sometime after that, I'll be able to give you more details! There are some discussions about the GF photo session on the Theme parks and strategies thread somewhere...

Hope this helps you out! I'm looking forward to it! Nov 14 is my BF's 30th b-day, and we have a Illuminations cruise scheduled that night, so its sure to be quite memorable for the both of us!

Hey, I did not laugh at that pic, Tracy, I thought it was great! :goodvibes My mom used to sew similarly "cool" clothes for us kids in the 70's, too! What a hoot!

Bill, if you love Star Wars/Fantasy and Jim Henson's work, you will absolutely love The Dark Crystal! The DVD has a special "the making of" segment that is awesome; a great peek into Jim Henson Studios. Its a classic. ::yes::

Kathy

I love hearing about your past trips from both sides. I just can't say enough about how much I love your report!:)

Sorry I am late to the party.....but I'm now caught up and ready to read more !!!! :surfweb:

Tracy and Bill........you two are so cute together. Bill--you are such a TROOPER to experience SSW not just ONCE but TWICE.......I have begged and pleaded with my DH, but he can only tolerate my SOAP-addiction so much.....:rotfl:

BTW, I'm sending Tracy a PM.......I've got a secret for you both.........

I'm not much of a TR reader, but our own trip is getting closer so I've been going thru a few. I am loving this report! We will miss you guys by only a few days.

Bill....I'm so jealous of people with more than one degree. You have multiple degrees while I've been working on my BSN degree for several years now:rolleyes1 ....yes...it's a tad bit embarrassing.:)

Tracy...you sound so much like me. I like to be at home, tend to be pessimistic, and am a consummate(sp?) worrier. DH can't sit still for 5 minutes(unless a football game is on:rolleyes: ) and wants to GO all the time. Though I like to get out and be active at times, I really do like to just stick around the house and watch a movie or read a book.

Anywho....I am looking forward to the rest of this report!!!

MagiKitty, please tell me you are going to write a trip report. I would love it and hear about the Illuminations cruise.

The Dark Crystal is now on our NetFlix list.

Thank you for not laughing at me Kathy  . Bill thinks that picture is hilarious. We will have to see if we can watch "the making of". Bill and I love watching the extras on the DVDs.

mickeymousemom, thank you so much for joining our PTR. Bill said don't be embarrassed about working on your degree that long. It takes time and sometimes life gets in the way.

YAY another pessimistic worrier :rotfl:. I will say I have gotten so much better since I met Bill, he pulls me out or worrier mode sometimes, although I am kicking and screaming when he does it.

Coming up the Disney part of our itinerary...

Hopefully things will run smoothly and I will have everything put where I want it in the room before we go to bed the first night at Pop Century :thumbsup2 . I am still a little nervous about staying there, I have read it can be very noisy :confused3 . Here is what we have planned to do:

Next installment… The rest of our long boring itinerary

Thanks for encouragement on a trip report. Sadly, it would be really short because this is mostly a US/IOA vacation this time around. We're going to be on Disney property as loafers, checking out the holiday decorations at all the resorts, DTD, and the Boardwalk (we love that place). But we are scheduled for MVMCP and the cruise, which should be amazing! So, maybe a long post instead?

I've been inspired...I'm watching Muppets from Space AND the Dark Crystal this weekend! The weather had gotten cooler and its perfect to hibernate on the couch!

Looking forward to the next installment--have a good weekend everyone!
