I stopped by the DVC preview center and talked to two cms about GFV...one said he heard there will be some Mary Poppins themed stuff in the villas! That would be so cute!

It would definitely fit in nicely with the GF decor. Can't wait to see it.:goodvibes

Hopefully it won't be in your face. For the cost of those points (as they are expected to be), DVC doesn't really need to "cartoon it up". Sedate, refined, classy would be better.

We ate there once and it did not wow me like I thought it would. It is too stuffy for me. I am going to get a gingerbread house this year though.

There is definitely a different vibe when the normal WDW tourist steps through the door into GF. I've sensed a superior snobbish attitude from some of the reception CM's there. I really would like to stay there just once but I don't want to have to be dressed up the way most of the guests there seem to be.

Different strokes for different folks. I know plenty of people who love the GF. I don't happen to be one of them. It always seemed too refined for us but I do think it is a beautiful resort.

We stayed there in March and I have to say it felt like all the rest of the resorts, super nice CMs, they all would say hello to you as you past. We really enjoyed it, we thought the same as you at first but we were pleasantly suprised.
They have the Mary Poppins topiary by the front door. Maybe a statue like Ariel at the Beach Club would be nice.

Another Longg Islander here.

I always felt the same way about GF as some of the previous posters. With 2 little kids didn't think it would be as laid back as some of the other resorts and thought it would be stuffy, especially with the kids.

Stayed there in 2010 and it was awesome! We all loved it. Was not stuffy at all. Do not have to be all dressed up like some people say/feel and everyone there was SUPER nice. CM experience was probably the best we have had compared to other deluxes. Resort was beautiful, but wish you could walk to MK like at BLT/CR.

Think we are done with Pts and pricing will probably be really high so don't think we will buy there but it is a great resort. For anyone that has not stayed there, try it.

I have been there a lot, and it is not this way to me at all. I dress no differently unless the occasion calls for it, and you are treated just like you are at any other resort.

I totally agree. We go there every trip to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe and show up in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm not wearing any diamonds or fur. We've had some very nice visits there. If they keep the subtlety like they have with Alice in Wonderland in the hotel, it should be fine. But if they have to have big cartoon MPs and other characters, no.

I've stayed there twice, wore the same stuff as anywhere else and didn't feel out of place. Loved it!

I can't wait to see the villa rooms!

We love the Grand Floridian and never once have I felt this snobbish feel that some report on . :confused3 I do think you have to stay there, not just visit or dine to get the feel for the entire resort.

As a guest I always found it very, very friendly in fact one of the friendliest places we have stayed.

But, what did the bus driver say about it?

That sounds like a cute idea. I would like to stay at GF DVC at least once, but I can only imagine what the point charts would be.

Really? The picture I saw only had a couple of throw pillows with sketckes of Disney horeses added in terms of cartoon characters.

Not so sure. They recently felt the need to add cartoon character to SSR in the villas that were tastefully decorated to begin with.

And despite cries of concern about it turning into a cartoon it was subtle and hardly stands out as garish. There is next to no reason to believe the GF would be done differently than any other DVC.

We have stayed at the GF 3 times prior to owning DVC. I love it. I would never decorate my home that way, but I love the GF. I don't think we will ever own points there. We bought in when points were $65.00. I can't see paying almost triple that per point. But I will hopefully get a chance to stay there.:thumbsup2

Before we bought into BLT we stayed there all the time. I never dressed up once. Disney shirts every day and very casual for dinner. Never once did I feel like I was being looked down on. ( how would they know if you where staying there or just passing through). But then... I don't let anyone make me feel less. We are going to buy points as soon as they go on sale.
