I had a condo in Windsor Hills reserved for a 10 day stay in May 2014 through American Homes. Now I get notified that the owner has sold the condo and we no longer have a place to stay...they have tenatively booked us into a unit at Windsor Palms. If this is not acceptable they have said they will of course refund our deposit. I need input from everyone here. How is Windsor Palms? I've been told that is a "little further" than Windsor Hills from Disney. Any other suggestions of close resorts that anyone has stayed at?

Windsor Palms is really not any further than Windsor Hills. But it is not as nice so the price should be less. If they are charging you the same I would ask for some $$$ back. While very similar as far as the insides of the condos go...the pool is not as nice (no slide or gigantic hot tub) and the buildings do not have elevators. The company that we rent from charges $10 or $20/night less if you stay at Windsor Palms.

You could get a refund and start again with your search check out windsorhillsprivaterentals.com, its good for renting direct from owners.

Windor Hills is definitely the top resort in the area so staying there would be preferable i would suggest.

Thanks,
Dave

OP, how many people do you need to accommodate in your villa or condo? How many bedrooms will you need? What kind of amenities were you hoping to have in the room and at the resort? Are you visiting only the Disney parks? This info would be helpful for people to suggest some alternative resorts for you :) , assuming you are not 100% stuck on Windsor Hills.

I like Windsor Palms. It is slightly older than WH but its super close to Disney. Have you looked on Homeaway and Trip Advisor? You will probably get a better rate through an owner anyway. I would look at Emerald Island too. Its gated/manned and in the same Formosa Gardens area.

There's also a resort nearby called Oakwater. It's actually on the same road, but closer to Disney than Windsor Hills. Some of the management companies that have units at Windsor Hills, also have some units at Oakwater. No homes, just condos, but it's a really nice resort. We've stayed there a few times. Just google Oakwater Resort rentals for options.
