With only 54 days until we go I am having a major panic about our accommodation at Best Western Plaza International. The reviews are getting worse everytime I read them and also I have just read that the motel has changed ownership, it is now owned by Econo Lodge! How tacky does that sound!

I think I am going to give Broadway travel a call later to see if they can sort us out alternative accommodation, we have looked on the site and they have rooms available at Hampton Inn South of Universal which looks really nice and has pretty good reviews (and provide free breakfast!). Its only £35 more than we payed but im sure Broadway will add on an admin fee for changing it.

I really hope we can change because im having really bad thoughts in my head about this Econo Lodge place! :scared1:

Has anyone stayed at either of these places I have mentioned?

Sorry, I have not but when looking for a hotel I usually read reviews on tripadvisor to get a rough idea of what a hotel is like. I usually pay more regard to the British comments because in general the Americans are a lot harder to please.

We stayed at the Best Western Plaza on our first trip to Orlando back in 1997.

Although it was a fairly basic hotel it was clean and the rooms were quite nice.
Corridors (outside, motel style) and lift areas were a little basic but OK.
Pool area was nice and I think they have built a new pool bar since we were there.

The location of the hotel is ideal. On the quieter southern end of Idrive close to shops, plenty of restaurants and attractions like pirates minigolf.

I don't know if the new ownership would make any different to the hotel general quality or not though.

Talk to Broadway and see what they say :)

Did you phone them? Which Hampton Inn are you talking about - there are several in and around the area you describe?

I have rang them today and they say they will look into my request, the lady I spoke to didn't seem very willing to help me though. I have checked on both Best Western and Econo Lodge's websites and it says you can cancel a reservation any time up to the date you check in so I cant see a problem with Broadway doing this.

The Hampton Inn we want to stay at is the South of Universal, here is the website...

Simon what I would say about the cancellation policy is that that is for bookings direct with the hotel, your TA has booked your deal with a supplier who will now have your money! So I would imagine that you are now in the hands of the supplier & not your TA & especially this close in I would think that you will have to pay at least an amendment fee, that's if they will let you change at all.
SD:thumbsup2
