Someone please help us because we are stuck and it looks like we will be tossing a coin to make our decision at this rate!

We are booked to go on a Disney Alaska cruise next year, which is something DH and I have always wanted to do. However as our kids will be 4 and 6 then we have finally made the decision to push it back for a couple of years so I know that I can go Whale watching without the kids moaning that they are bored.

We are instead looking at doing an 11 night trip over October half term next year so they don't miss more than a couple of days of school. We will be doing 8 nights at Disney and a 3 night cruise ( was hoping for a 4 night but that doesn't work with our dates). We have narrowed our choice of Disney hotel to either SSR, OKW or AKL.
We have stayed at SSR before and loved it, but I am not sure how the kids the kids will get on with the uncomfortable sofa bed. OKW looks similar but doesn't have the great proximity to DTD. AKL is £160 more but I see we could request bunk beds.

I am swaying towards AKL but am a bit concerned that it is so far from everything and we won't be hiring a car for our whole trip. Also from what I have seen on YouTube the rooms look dark and a bit cramped.

Can anyone offer any help?!?

TIA

If it helps the bunk beds are a booking category not a request at AKL :goodvibes

Our DD is 6 and always sleeps on a sleeper sofa or chair in a DVC one bedroom. She has never complained about not being comfortable :thumbsup2

I just stayed at AKL. The bus issue is overhyped. The only bus journey that it truly awful and long is the one to DTD and Blizzard Beach. Apart from that they were all about 15 minutes and they came more frequently than any other resort I have stayed at.

if you're talking about a studio at OKW - it has two beds, not a bed and a sofabed like SSR.

AKL and WL rooms are smaller than rooms at the other deluxes, however we were fine in them when the kids were little.
Both have bunkbed rooms which is nice, so each child gets his/her own bed instead of sharing a queen.

i'm not a big fan of AKL, but kids do love the animals there.
keep in mind, that if you're getting a good rate, chances are you won't have a savannah view. But you'll be able to see animals from public areas of the hotel.
Bus transportation is perfectly fine. I never had a problem with it. And it's not that far away. I mean, you are on property. How far is anything after all.

by the way, my personal preference is WL over AKL.
If they're the same price, you might want to consider WL.
Although there are people who hate having to take the boat to get to MK, i really enjoy getting there by boat. so relaxing. :)

Thanks very much for all your help. We have decided on AKL and I have just booked it, yay! Will have to go and amend my ticker now.

When I booked I couldn't see an option to pick a room type. Should I ring them up to get it sorted??
