Hi all :thumbsup2

Not been on for a while.
We are going to Orlando Nov 27th for 2 weeks:woohoo: . We wwere staying at AKL
but are now lookingg for something in the international drive area.
We are 2 adults and 2 children (boys 12 and 13). They dont really want to share a bed.
Any help at all will be appreicated.
Steve Gale :dance3:

Hi Steve,

You might be better looking for a private rental, although it won't be on International Drive. A condo or townhome will give you that bit more room which you probably need with 2 growing boys. There is also quite often the likes of a Playstation 2 or Gamecube which I'm sure they would enjoy and keep them busy while you can relax.

Try checking out sites like www.homeaway.com or www.vrbo.com you may be surprised at what you can get for your money compared to a hotel.

Good luck

Tracey :goodvibes

There is a thread that highly recommends The Cypress Pointe resort in LBV.
The price for a 2 bed suite is around 35.00 per night through http://www.hotelopia.co.uk
Not to take anything away from private rental which was what we were considering if we go again this year, but at this price and location it can't be beaten.
To be honest if we do go again, I'll be booking Cypress Pointe, at that price for a 2 bed apartment with two baths it will give us more spending money.
Good luck.

We are considering staying at the Embassy Suites International Drive South.
The property is advertised in the Virgin brochure and it looks fantastic.Pop onto the Embassy Suties website and you can look at the hotel thru a virtual tour.
There is a separate living area with a double pull out sofa bed, easy chair,tv,table&chairs, mini kitchen/wet area-inc tiny sink/microwave/fridge,.Separate bedroom with either a kingsize or 2 queen beds,tv&unit with storage drawers,2 wardrobes, vanity area, chair.Seperate bathroom.
1 indoor and 1 outdoor pool, hot tub etc..Bar which has a happy hour every night, free drinks and snacks.Full free cooked breakfast every morning, cereals, waffles, fruit, omelettes etc...
Hope this helps, its only one of a few hotels on I-drive that has a seperate living/bedroom area.
The rooms are recently being refurbished at the moment,i believe the 8th&7th floor have already been completed.

There is another one called the Enclave Suites but i havent heard very good things about that.x.

I would highly recommend Marriott's Grande Vista http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34515-d87833-Reviews-Marriott_s_Grande_Vista-Orlando_Florida.htmlon International Drive, or Marriott's Cypress Harbour which is nearby. Both offer large apartments and are fantastic.

We've stayed at Old Key West and Boardwalk Villas onsite and neither are a patch on the Grande Vista. It's just over the crossroads from Seaworld but is set back about half a mile through woodland so is removed from the noise of traffic.
Cypress harbour is slightly older but still clean and comfortable.

We stayed at Sheraton Vistana Villages at the South end of I-Drive in a 2bed 2 bath unit in May, and I can highly recommend it, but at over double the amount I can pay for a 2 bed 2 bath suite at Cypress Pointe I think it's too expensive. Don't get me wrong the resort is absolutely beautiful and in a fantastic location (I like south i-drive and LBV) but as I say earlier in the thread a budget trip is now in order (when I think what I paid going through Virgin Holidays and what I can pay going independently.....shudder when I think back - we could have had three trips this year!!!). I will add though that the Cypress Pointe looks just as lovely for the amount of time you spend in your accom, and being on LBV that suits us to. It just doesn't feel like a compromise at all to me.
I like the space and convenience of a villa/suite. As I have young children I just think a traditional two queen bedded hotel room would be a nightmare for us in the evening when we want to wind down after they have gone to bed, and 2 bathrooms really comes in handy, as well as the kitchen facilities.

We stayed at Sheraton Vistana Villages and I can highly recommend it, but I think it's too expensive.

Despite my last post!! I've been looking at that one. I bought a timeshare in the lakes and swap it every year for Orlando ones, which is how I've had a fortnight in OKW for about £500.

I'm looking at a week in Oct and was going to go for a studio in the grande Vista at £250, but can get a one bed in Vistana Villages for about £200.

So now I've got loads of questions! Were you in a new building?, (If not, what sort of condition was everything in?), was it busy? was the pool busy? did you use the quiet pool? And anything else you can tell me:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm tempted to PM you as too much info on here is straying from the point of the original thread. On the other hand info on accom is always handy to all.
My little one should nap soon, so if I get a chance this afternoon, I'll update. If not, tonight it will have to be!

Another vote for the Vistana Villages - stayed there June 2003 then stayed in a private villa last year (better value but way too far out)

Booked to go back this October for 10 nights and will probably ask for the section around the pool as the villa we stayed in looked slightly larger than photos of the new ones.

Ignore the pictures in the Virgin brochure as they do not do the resort justice - take a look at www.starwoodvo.com
- it really is exactly as shown. Fantastic accommodation in a great location.

Also, if you can stretch that extra mile, the 2 bedroom suite is well worth the money

graeme, would tell me which timeshare company you got in the lakes (pm me is you like) as I'm from west cumbria (now living down the a19 from you!) and something like that would be good to visit home/lakes.

Cheers

Lynn
