Anybody hear any info about a big accident that happened a short while ago ? We were waiting for our express +bus at Hollywood studios and they said there was a big accident that blocked all four lanes and we needed to meet our bus at the front . Praying for all involved !

Not that one but there seem to be frequent accidents at the light were HS exits. We got very delayed leaving HS one night due to one, buses couldn't get in, no traffic could get out of the parking lot. At closing.

There was a bus-car accident on Buena Vista - happened around 8:30p.

Four ambulances were on the scene at the time my friend drove by. Thoughts and prayers going out to all involved.

Oh no. I really hope it wasn't another CP bus accident. That would be the 2nd in under a month if that is the case. I was shocked to see the 1st wasn't even mentioned anywhere and I only heard because a few friends are leaders at Epcot and it was the Epcot CP bus.

@wilkeliza ~ it wasn't a CP Bus because CM friend would have noted that. She hadn't heard of the CP accident but when I described what I had read here on the Boards, she said this one was similar - a major crash scene.

Yeah I never could get 100% confirmation on that one but management was told and CPs were writing about it. Seems Disney tried really hard to sweep it under the rug.

I had read on FB that a Disney bus was involved. Not sure if that is accurate information or not.

Frankly, as someone who stays off site and always drives, I'm shocked there aren't more accidents than what there already are. The roads are packed with tourists who are unfamiliar with the area, and the maze of roads can be very confusing. It's sometimes hard to follow signs and figure out where you're going. See people darting lanes last second to get off at an exit, or run a red light (presumably because they're looking at GPS or something). Don't want to overstate it and say it's total chaos, because it's not. But there are clearly a lot of lost people on the roads, so you have to keep your eyes open at all times. I'd be lying if I said I never made a sudden lane change there because I nearly missed my exit. Now that I've driven around the place as much as I have, I generally know where I'm going, but still haven't mastered all the roads.

I don't envy the WDW bus drivers. It's got to be rough at times.

I rent a car and drive around WDW and I have to say that I have seen my share of poor driving by buses. Certainly not the majority, but enough that it's noticeable. Couple that with tourists who don't know exactly where they are going and it can be a recipe for disaster. I definitely use all my very best defensive driving skills when I'm there and give a very wide berth to any bus because I've seen them cut off cars who don't.

Ahhhh thanks. I figured it has something to do with CM's!
Most of the College Program Cast Members live in Disney Housing in the Disney Springs area.

Some have cars, but most rely on Disney to bus them to their jobs(and to Wal-Mart,etc.).:)

It was actually discussed on another thread in community. I saw it just after it happened and was sitting not far from it stuck. It was awful.

Agreed. And, having just been there using a GPS, I think the problem is exacerbated in part because your GPS is going to give you a road name, while the signs rarely do. For example, your GPS tells you to turn onto World Drive, but all you're going to see on the highway sign is "All Theme Parks" or "Magic Kingdom." The sign is great, if the place where you're going is specifically named on it, but potentially very confusing if it's not. Couple that with the GPS only giving you a street name, and there's the opportunity for lots of people to feel "lost."

Luckily, my wife is a good navigator, and I (usually) listen. :thumbsup2

Or people rely 100% on GPS and don't use basic logic and thinking skills. Happens all the time where I work. We have signs that point to our parking (garage and surface lots). They are very clear and there are many of them. But you can always tell the people who ONLY follow their GPS and don't look at signage because they end up on the wrong side of the street (parking is across the street from the actual place) and then try and dart over 3 lanes of traffic.

It's dangerous when people don't use their brains.

We go to Disney World a lot so know the roads but we've found that you have to know where you are going before you leave. So, look at a map or something and see the directions and know before you get into your car. It's just that simple. I live in the Atlanta area and it's the same here. I don't have a GPS system so I look online at a mapping system, see where it is I'm going, actually write down directions or print them out and have an idea in my head of what I'm doing before I leave the house. Pretty darn simple. I don't listen to a person on my phone or talking to me from my car to let me know how to drive.
