Accessing the boat for Fireworks Cruise

My friend's grown son uses an ECV. We'd like to schedule a Fireworks Cruise at Epcot but was told by a cast member on the phone that he would have to be able to step into the boat unassisted. He can't really walk but a couple of steps and has trouble stepping down without a handrail, so I'm wondering if a family member can help him balance while he steps into the boat. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? Thank you.

Your best bet is to call again and explain what you want to do and see if that will be okay; be exact. I've been on a few fireworks cruises and I will tell you it's not easy to get in and out of their boats.

As an alternative, the Rose and Crown restaurant in Epcot has outside seating for the fireworks. It can be tough getting a dinner reservation there for fireworks time. You can try.

There may be other fireworks dining packages that would give you preferred seating or standing room. Maybe, others can chime in with alternatives.

all the pictures and videos show a pontoon boat, which is not accessible. We have put our daughter’s wheelchair on a pontoon boat, but she is a small adult with a narrow wheelchair.
CMs are not allowed to lift or transfer guests, but we’ve never experienced any CMs telling us we could not transfer our daughter - she can’t stand, so needs us to lift her on and off attractions

The website ‘Additional Guest information and accessibility’ for the cruises say that guests may remain in their ECV or wheelchair. Don’t know if that is an error or if they have additional different accessible boats.
So, I agree it would be best to call for more information.
