Hi fellow DISers,

Since I know you guys are a wealth of knowledge for everything Disney and otherwise, I figured I would ask here for advice about a trip to another theme park.

My husband is going to a Six Flags park with his cousins over Thanksgiving week (Oh, who am I kidding, he's being dragged as the only adult to chaperone the kids while moms go Black Friday shopping!). He has a knee condition that makes climbing stairs impossible. He uses a GAC while at Disney but has no need for a wc, ecv, or other assistance devices.

Does anyone know how other theme parks treat this situation? Is there a "gac" type pass at other parks? Could he just walk up to the wc entrance without a chair?

He is worried that he will have to sit out all of the rides since he cannot climb stairs.

Thanks for the understanding!

It's probably best to call the park and ask about their policy. Six Flags has a reputation for not being very handicap friendly, especially for those with borderline issues.

I'm a wheelchair user and have been to a 6 Flags once since becoming so (it happened to be 6 Flags NJ, but I would hope policies are same at all 6 Flags). They do have some sort of card that's similar to the GAC, but I didn't see anyone without a wheelchair or ECV using it.

The two things I really remember about it is that just about all the accessible entrances were through the exit and that it only allowed me and 1 other person to go through that entrance. I'd really suggest calling 6 Flags if he's supposed to be chaperoning and the kids are too young to wait in line without him to see if they'll make an exception to the 1-person rule. You don't want to discover that it's a problem when he gets there.
