I went to AAA today to purchase our Universal tix for next week and she said her Universal rep has been telling people to get a 1 day - 2 park ticket because people have been going to IOA to go to WWoHP and have been getting turned away because the park was too full... People apparently get given a paper of some sort telling them to come back later (I.e. - 2 hrs) and use the park hopper to go to US while they wait.

I was gonna skip US altogether to give us an extra day to relax since I just found out I'm preggo... And US is mostly thrill rides. I just wanna see HP.

We're planning on going to IOA on Aug. 9th... It's a thursday. We decided to be there an hour before opening and see when we get there if people are being turned away and decide to buy the ticket and hang out in Citywalk or just go in if there is no wait..

Has this happened to anyone? Been turned away from IOA/WWoHP?

That's interesting...I don't remember anyone else reporting park closures or HP being too full.

If we were talking about holiday week or Spring Break I would believe it but not this summer. It's been busy but not that busy.

Maybe someone can shed some light but again...I haven't heard of any park closures this summer.

My cynical, can't trust a TA, self says that it's a cute way for her to sell the hopper. She seems to be banking on the idea that IOA contains nothing but Wizarding World. Which is ANYTHING but the truth.

But at the very least I'd ask her when the last report of that happening came in, because maybe she's just going off of year old information.

Rarely Harry Potter area hits full capacity and they close the area and give you a ticket to come back. IOA remains open. The last time this happened was over spring break. You should have no problem - also it's a Thursday not even a weekend.

Have fun! :)

Out of all the boards I frequent, your report is the first one that has mentioned anything about the WWoHP being full this year. The TA may be confusing it with past years.

Bingo.

I'd never trust a TA either

Thanks guys!! I thought it sounded funny too... But considering the difference btwn the AAA price vs. the reg tix are the same whether it be a hopper or not... I didnt think they'd be making much money on a hopper?? Maybe there are hopper incentives... She said it was her "Universal Representative"... Still sounds sketchy.

Anywho... I am relieved. I'm gonna get my tickets at the gate.... Not liking AAA's "tactics"!

P.S. I LOVE my TA. Simmons Travel - in FL! I'm from NH and do everything over the phone. She takes care of EVERYTHING. Makes planning a vaca so easy. Took care of everything for Disney... Hotel changes, requets, date changea... We just waited on the universal tix cuz we weren't sure what we were gonna do r days there.

You'll save a little bit of money if you use www.undercovertourist.com

Buying at the gate it pricey if you are purchasing anything other than a one day ticket.

If you run into a back up to get into WWoHP, there's plenty to see in IOA itself. I doubt that it'll be so backed up though.

Thanks!! I'm just getting a one-day ticket though. The prices didn't seem that different... Could I buy 2 now for tmrw? Or is there shipping?

Also - the lady made it seem that you couldn't get into IoA at all and had to go to another park (US) all together.

I guess I'll find out tmrw!!

You can buy them now and use the print at home option. It will save you from waiting at the ticket booths.

I think that the only time IOA closed because of capacity was during the first Christmas vacation after the opening of the Wizarding World....Dec. 28, 2010.
