Do ya honestly think a bunch of 20 year old college girls are going to be all that receptive to rooming with someone middle-aged?


Somehow I doubt Disney accepts many married, middle-aged people into their CP.

acutally, my recruiter told me that it would be a little more difficult for older students to get into the program... they have a lot of issues to worry about, like marriage and children and such... but i'm sure you will be fine!!

Regardless of age, marital status, children, (there are none of these questions on the application) etc...Disney cannot look at any of this to determine employment.

Maybe the recruiter you spoke to meant that it would a difficult personal choice to partcipate on the program.

It doens't matter how old or young you are (as long as you are 18) I think anyone can get alot out the cp!!!

The student might have more things to consider before accepting but I doubt it's any harder for them to be accepted. I had a roommate who was 37 and I was 21 year old student. She was awesome to have as a roommate. She was the cleanest most considerate roommate I had ever had and I didn't think twice about it. You should definitely go for it and don't let anyone discourage you! On my first CP, we had a CPer who had to be in her late 60s working at haunted mansion. Everyone loved her! I had co-workers who were married with kids and we still talk 4 years later. Yeah you might run into some immature people but that's what happens when you deal with 18 year olds! Go and Have fun!

This was already mentioned... but if you never state your age or your marital status during your interview they would never know - especially because interviews are done via the phone. I did mention the fact that I was married in my interview, but the interviewer seemed more concerned that I was going to have my masters and would overqualified then the fact that I was married!

Oh, sorry if it seemed defensive! I just thought some other people were being insensitive! Not to mention the fact that Disney is an EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer) so if your recruiter is telling people that people who are older have a harder timed getting hired it could spell legal troubles! You just have to always be careful what you say when you are saying you heard something from the company itself!

i know that Disney is an EOE. I'm a campus rep, and we had this older woman that talked to me personally and talked with our recruiter and such. I think that my recruiter meant that it would be a little more difficult for her with the younger crowd and how they will accept her... i don't know how to put it in words, but i understood her. i mean, not a lot of younger cps are expecting an older roomate, and if the older roomate sees that or something, they may have a harder time... does that make sense? i didn't mean to make a bad impression about that statement, so i'm sorry!

I know I'm a pretty positive person but i want to know what alot of the other College Program kids are like... I don't wana be around ****** party animals the whole time. Are most of the kids in general big Disney nerds like myslef and are also nervous and looking to make new friends to hangout with. I'm just looking forward to meeting other "average joes" like myself. My main concern is that ill be hanging out with other college kids and going to the parks with them.

You get a variety of students... either they LOVE Disney, or they like certain aspects of Disney, but not really "Disney freaks". The people I knew LOVE Disney, and that made the experience THAT much more fun! The ones that are just there to be there, you will find out who, by not caring about their job as much and care about having too much fun. I'm sure you will find the disney nerds! We are out there!

Hi! I know I posted a thread on this, but I'm new and I dont really know if I posted it in the right area or not...but I had some questions about the Disney college program and could really use some help, if any one is willing! I'm applying for the Spring 09 program at the DL resort, but i have no idea where to start! my questions are...

-when am I supposed to apply? When is too early?
-when does the e-presentation go up? Because when I try to view it now, it won't go!
-Do i fill out an applicatio before or after I view the e-presentation? its not really clear on the website...
-is it easier to get into the DL prograp than the WDW?

Any answers would be great, and I'm sorry if this is an intrusion..but I'm kinda desperate for answers, I dont wanna miss out on this! Thanks!

haha ok great! yeah i mean i still have alot more to learn about Disney and the parks! i am just looking 4ward to hopefully meeting other kids who just love going to the parks and be themselves. (it gets kind of annoying in college when u meet so many different kinds of people all over the place and are trying too hard to "be cool" and just arent themselves)

I know what you mean! but honestly, i've met some of the best people on my first program! I love them to death, and they are wholesome, and they are themselves, which is the best part! I think Disney helps bring out who a person really is.... it helped me a little to find myself

I am definitely not a party person. Most of the people I have met on my programs have not been either.

I just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who responded that age doesn't matter. I know I'll have my own unique set of issues, but my family and I are willing to do what it takes for me to be successful. Furthermore, I believe that a little age and maturity will go a long way. If I can't room w/ my DD, I can promise you, whomever gets me for a roommate will be far from "creeped out" but will probably enjoy a cleaner apartment and delicious meals since I have a LOT of experience in those areas. I'm at a major turning point in my life and it's a scary thing to be 43 and going back to school. The PP did take a bit of the wind from my sails, but I'm happy to say that everyone else more than replaced it. Thank you.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've still got a year to go but I'm itching to finish my first semester so I can be on my way...

the only thing i'm worried about are the out of control kids - ones who won't be taking it seriously like i'll be.

Awww, thank you. I would dearly love to be a Fairy Godmother in Training. Having had 4 DDs and 6 nieces, I'm more than qualified to fix princess hair! My 19yo was a FGMiT at DTD and has threatened my life if I get it and get the MK location, however...

2nd choice would be Vacation Planner (years of experience there, too), 3rd is Merchandise (Ziwadi Marketplace at AKL, if I can dream...)
