Going next month with my DDs for a girls trip. We are being adventurous ( or crazy ) and staying at three different resorts! No dinning plan on any ressie. I see they have three magic bands for each of us...is this going to be a nightmare?? Can it all just be linked to one band each?? Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this? Thanks!

The magic bands are linked to your MDE account. As long as your tickets and reservations are all linked to your MDE account, you should be able to use any of the magic bands - feel free to order different colors for each stay. That's what we did, LOL.

Hint. Be sure each resort actually checks you out before you go to check-in to the next resort. If not, you may encounter problems.

Have fun!

Like Carol said, every band issued to you is linked to your My Disney Experience online account. All of your park admission, room charging, room entry and FastPass data is also linked to the MDE account.

You SHOULD be able to use the bands interchangeably without issue.

Still, I would recommend traveling with all of them just to be safe. When you switch hotels, have every member of your party try their band on the door at the new hotel just to make sure it works.

Ok, so they should all work. Keeping fingers crossed ! Thanks for your help :)

We are in a similar situation. We are travelling with a total of 8 people and staying in two resorts so we are getting 16 Magic Bands. In addition, DH and I still have ours from our trip in November 2013. Even though we have our names on them, I ordered a different color for each person for each reservation. For example, DD10 will have a pink one for the first and a blue one for the second. DD8 ordered a blue one for the first and a pink one for the second. It sure would be nice if they would save money and simply send ONE MB per person. If you lose it, then you could request a replacement. I don't understand why they are wasting SO much money to send out "reusable" bands:confused3.

Don't worry about it. This happened to me at a 3 resort trip last fall. I called MDE and they INSISTED I needed 3 bands. But in actuality, here's what happened-when I got to the second resort, I'd forgotten to change bands, and was still wearing the band from the "old" resort. Meanwhile, the band for my second resort was accidentally packed away in my suitcase-somewhere in transit. "Oh, boy", I thought, "Now I'm scr***d." "Don't worry", said the CM at the front desk. He took my band, did some Magical Mickey head to Mickey head stuff for a few seconds and Voila! Now, the first MB worked. Same thing happened at the third resort. By the way, I now have two brand new, never used MBs as souvenirs because I wore that same first one all trip.

Just at Disney last week. We did a split stay, and our party of 7 had 14 magic bands, plus extra bands from a fall trip. All of the bands will work with your MDE account - no magic necessary from the CM at check-in. The check-in person at VGF just told us to touch all of the magic bands to our door so that they would all work with the exterior doors at VGF and the work-out room. If all of the old magic bands have not been used to enter your current villa door, they will not work after hours to get you in the main building.

We had no problems using our VGF magic bands without officially checking out of BWV. Our villa was ready early at VGF, and all of our new and old bands worked without a hitch.

We have so many bands it's stupid. I have inactivated the extra bands and KTTW cards in MDE and we only travel with the active bands.

Same here. We let the kids use it as toys.

I would recommend ordering each set. If you don't, they may just have it for you at check in. I've gone as far as to number them so I know which band "goes with" which reservation.

Our trip last fall consisted of 2 resorts but 4 different reservations. I was lazy and only took 2 bands each. Not all bands worked for all reservations. And our last room, they were not able to fix the problem so I had to hold on to my 1yo's MB because it can open the hotel door but mine couldn't. No problems with tickets.

Thanks everyone. Guess I figured they would only give us one band each. Silly me. Lol.

In reality, no different than getting a new set of room keys every time you moved, only now you have them ahead of time.

Thanks for all your help!!

For our trip next month, we too have 3 sets of MBs to use for each of us, I made sure to have a different color for each person for each of the different reservations (the only color that we will not own is the grey one) plus you can change the name to a nickname on your MBs, which we did too just so I can make sure to know which MB is for which reservation. And like the PP mentioned, I will be bringing all 3 sets with us when we go :goodvibes.

Just want to clarify something that I have read in the past somewhere....once we have possession of our MBs, we could then use them for future trips? I won't have to reorder them each time we book a vacation?

Your MB are linked to your "account number". Your account number has the room # and hotel reservation linked and tickets. So you can use any MB assigned to you on any trip as long as everything is linked via DME. We have MB from Jan trip, one set for pass holders, and two sets coming for split stay in July. Any of the 4 assigned to me will work in July and beyond.

I have heard battery life of ~3 years for a MB. So eventually disney will not send you one if you already own.

We have many, many MBs each. You can have up to 8 active MBs in your MDEx account at one time. All will work to open your room, for charging (during a WDW resort stay if you have a credit card tied to your account), for park entry and for FP+ redemption. You do not need to keep track of which one is for each reservation.

As PPs have stated, nothing is actually stored on your band. Everything is in your MDEx profile and your band(s) simply read that information. Any active bands that you have will read your resort stay, your FP+ selections, your park tickets, etc. from your account.

All of the bands will work with your MDE account - no magic necessary from the CM at check-in.

LOL! You're probably right. And the CM at the front desk was just trying to impress me with some (unnecessary) Disney Magic, as well as to show me how the touch things spun and turned green. Darn, I'll bet he was waiting for me to go "Wow! That's so cool!":rotfl2:

I am the proud manager of 21 magic bands, lol! That is from a Fall 2013 trip, a February Trip, a three way split stay coming up in August, and another fall trip, and of course the new AP holder ones.
I did have them recycle my February bands.
August will have names followed by 1,2,3--may have them recycled after use as well!
AP rumor has it will have a little trinket attached
Hopefully, by fall they will have it ironed out and just let me use my passholder band!

I doubt that's true.

To Disney, MagicBands are now a standard operating cost for its hotel business. When guests pay for a Disney hotel room or villa, along with a place to sleep they get a packet of papers a check-in, toiletries, coffee...and MagicBands.

Disney may someday consolidate the split stays and only issue one set of bands for people who are hopping among two or more resorts for a single stay. But even that isn't a high priority right now since only a very small number of people (many DVC owners) book split stays.

And Passholders will only get one set of bands per year.

But I suspect they will continue to send new bands for every Disney resort stay.

LOL that made my day!!!:wave2:

We did a 12 night split stay over the Christmas holidays and since we live in Canada, we could not get our bands shipped to us but just pick them up at the resort. We got our bands at VWL for the first 8 nights and then when we went to BCV, there were new ones waiting for us. We confirmed that our existing bands would work for the next four days and we told the front desk to keep them.

I will have 30 bands shortly for our trip starting May 31st. I put our names on the back with the resort. Terry BCV Terry OKW and Terry VGF. Now Terry's bands are all gray, most of us have different colors for different resorts...can't wait for the fun to begin!!!!!pixiedust:

u don't need to travel with all them. That's just a lot of useless crap to worry about. If for some reason the one u being doesn't work walk to the front desk have them check the number in the band with those computers and if it isn't showing up they will add that id. Very simple. Happened to use last year. Took. 5 mins.
