Hey Folks! Going to The Fort for the Fourth of July, and wondering if my 15,000 btu air conditioner will cut it with the heat and humidity there. We bought a Thor Freedom Elite 23h in December and haven't had the temperatures here in Tennessee to test it out. So, will we bake inside or not? Thanks in advance!

We were there in the month of August with about 114 degree weather. We have 2 a/c units in our 34.5' Class A and they kept us nice and comfy.

To be honest, if you are in the full sun, your one AC unit will have a tough time keeping you comfortable. We have been there in the past with just one AC, but we are always in the parks during the day, so we survived. o_O

The nights were fine, however. If you are in a somewhat shaded site, it will be more comfortable during the day. So, only you can decide how much time you'll be spending in your RV during the day.

Our mh with two units got a workout during the daytime there, but that's was in full sun.
We no longer go to Disney in mid summer because of the extreme heat - in fact have a trip for end of April, first of May.

Have a great trip! pixiedust:

I think you'll be fine. My old 5er was 31 ft and had a single 13500 A/C. It did fine at the Fort. July is Hot and Humid, but Hot is upper 90s. Around me (St Louis), July is often hotter than the Fort (100s) and just as humid. Even camping in direct sun all day, my old 5er would keep the trailer under 80. Give me a little shade and it was lower 70s.

Thanks everyone for your help! I hadn't planned on going in July but, the wife had other plans. Not as worried now thanks to you all!

Just to "Echo" what others have said. If you are in Full Sun, you might have an issue, but add some shade... I think you will be fine. Our TT is 37' (about 34' from front inside wall to back inside wall with 2 slides) and we only have ONE ac in the center. It did a fine job at keeping it cool, where it lacked is the Humidity. It kept it quite cool enough to the point where we had condensation on the ceiling (more then just a little bit too)

Jeepers! I don't want a 90% chance of rain inside too!:sail: I suppose we could just peel off and use the opportunity for a long bath.

Seriously though, would cracking open the vents help the problem? The rv is a class c and 24' end to end about 1200 cubic ft. If I knew the formula I could figure it out, perhaps. We will have our dog also and we want her to be comfy inside. Possibly a supplemental fan to circulate air more?

I always use two tower fans in the corners to circulate the air in our hybrid, works fine and we have camped in 95 degree weather with high humidity and we have 3 tent ends.

Actually, cracking a vent will make it worse. Do everything you can to seal out the outside humidity so the A/C can pull the moisture from the camper air.

And at 24ft long, your MH is about 190 sq/ft, not counting slides. My old 5er with a single 13,500 A/C was about 265 sq/ft counting the slide. It did fine at the Fort in June/July/August.

Okay, makes sense. I,ll make sure to put the reflectix on all the windows I can also. Just trying to ease my mind about my dog.
Not used to travelling with one on longer trips, weekends yes, weeks no. She likes camping and I don't want to alter that.

Thanks! I thought that might help. Appreciate any help I can get!
