All U.S. and Canadian citizens must travel with proof of citizenship, which is a valid passport, original, state-certified birth certificate and picture identification, or a certified naturalization certificate with a picture identification. Acceptable forms of picture identification are state or provincial driver's license, or federal, state, province or local government photo I.D. card.

Ok. So the way this reads, it sounds like I need both a passport and a state certified birth certificate. Is this correct?

I just read through my cruise documentation and it says for US Citizens, you are required to show one of thes forms:

1. Valid US Passport
2. Original birth certificate (state certified) and a picture ID
3. Certified naturalization certificate and a picture ID

DH uses his passport when we cruise and he does not bring along his birth certificate.

If you have a valid (not expired) US Passport, that's all you need.

If you don't have a passport, then you need a state-issued photo ID such as a driver's license PLUS a certified birth certificate.

We got Passports for our family, it makes traveling a lot easier. :)

We have passports also, but the way that was written, I was not sure if I needed everything.
Thanks!
