We leave for our trip on Friday and it was only posted yesterday that the Magic Kingdom monorails will not be operating between 11:30am and 6pm EVERY SINGLE DAY WE ARE THERE:headache:

So let me get this straight. I'm paying 300 dollars a night to ride the bus to MK? During crazy Spring Break crowds we all know how long the boat line will be to get back to the Poly. Why would Disney schedule this during such a busy time???:confused3

Where do I email my complaint?

I hear your concern, but it won't change the inevitable. I would suggest trying to avoid that area during those times. Get to the parks before and after and you should be fine.

We are debating doing poly this year and mainly for the monorail because of the ease with three small kids and proximity to mk. But all this monorail talk has me questioning if it's worth it and if we should just do moderate while we can (youngest will be two this trip so last year for us to do mod).

I know poly is beautiful and having awesome restaurants at my resort is a plus but the monorail is the selling point for me this year...

Why don't you call and express your disappointment and see what they will do. Maybe nothing but if it impacts your trip so much and they didn't announce it til it was too late for you to make changes that isn't your fault. I'd be disappointed for sure.

So sorry!!! I just read about that and was thinking how upset I would be about it! Hope you still have a magical trip any way. pixiedust:

The early bird catches the worm, so get to the park early and get back after 6 PM and you'll be fine!

I wish I had an answer. I don't. But I do understand your frustration. By all means you should complain. Every company has to do do preventative maintenance on their equipment, but I would imagine doing this on the monorail should take planning without customer interruption.

Thanks all. :goodvibesIt always feels good to know I'm not the only one that has these feelings. (I'm obviously excluding the Joker who told me to cancel my trip). It will still be a magical trip, but I will not understand why they don't do the work at night instead.

Cancel your trip and stay home

I'm guessing your reply was not genuine (just seems to be how the dis is these days,) but on the off chance you weren't just throwing out a sarcastic comment for no other reason than to be rude; just wanted to explain that since the OP leaves Friday, they wouldn't be able to just cancel their trip without being out a lot of money.

OP, good luck, I completely understand your frustration. I'd pretty annoyed as well.

If you go to the resort forum there is a sticky which includes the email address where you can lodge a complaint. And if you are unhappy, then by all means make a complaint. Another poster may have the snail mail address.

I can understand that you may be unhappy or frustrated about the altered hours for the monorail, but honestly, what could Disney have done or still do to make you happy? Halt construction on a multi million dollar facility so that you won't be inconvenienced?

How many months ago did you book this vacation? Do you know for a fact that Disney was aware of the need to close monorail operations for these time periods at the time you made your booking?

And really, how often were you planning on using the monorail in the afternoons? This is not a high traffic part of the day. The resort boats should be able to handle the number of guests needing to return to the Poly.

If you are REALLY upset about all the money you spent on your room at the Poly then why not phone Disney and request that they move you over to one of the Epcot resorts instead?

I imagine because they need the sun to see what they're doing.

It is what it is. Making a complaint might make you feel better but it's not going to change anything. If you're complaining to try and get some compensation then that is just sad.

I can see from your past trips that you are a Poly fan. I sympathize and growth is never pleasant, nor convenient to anyone. I'm sure Disney is doing their best to accomodate their guests. However, you have a valid complaint and I would definately express it to Disney. We had some issues this past trip and I calmly communicated my challenges without asking for a thing and Disney still responded appropriately, quickly and to my satisfaction.

Don't let it ruin your trip and plan accordingly. We are going in June and are already disappointed that they are closing a major attraction (Test Track - even though not official). I feel sorry for my nieces and nephews in which this may be the only trip they get to WDW, but we will live.

Here's one thing on your side....you are experienced and have the DIS. Think of all of those poor people in which this is their first trip and don't have the DIS to be prepared. I would personally plan on taking the ferry back (bigger boat) then waiting for the ferry. :wizard: Happy Thoughts!

That does stink!

I understand that progress must be made and that maintenance is required, but if you book a hotel because of the monorail and pay a premium for that service, you should at least be made aware of this ahead of time and get somewhat of a discount on the room.

If the monorail actually broke down and needed to be repaired I would say that those things do happen and I wouldn't expect Disney to do anything about that, but if it is a scheduled event guests should be notified in advance so that alternate plans/resorts can be made.

I would call and state my concerns. All they can say is no! I would ask for a lateral move to a resort in the same category. I would be upset also. Wishing you some magical pixie dust.!!:grouphug:

Will the monorail from the MK to Epcot continue to run?

I work for a Fortune 100 company and I can tell you clearly that we would never shut down anything (especially our manufacturing tools) in the name of preventative maintenance that would clearly impact the client. I suspect the downsizing and monetary challenges etc. have force them into this dilemma. And it's not a good place to be. I don't condone it....but I do understand it.

I do sympathize with the OP. I would not be happy at all either. However, the way I had it explained to me is that Disney cannot know precise construction dates ahead of time. And this closure has to do with the construction going on at the Grand Floridian. They have to lift some huge beams, and they cannot have the monorail going around at the same time, it is too dangerous.

The only other thing I can tell you is that if you are waiting until 11:30 during Spring Break to go to the parks, you are going to be miserable. the parks will be packed by then. You really need to be going much earlier, and then you will also still be able to ride the monorail to MK.

The March shut down is not for maintenance. They have to shut it down because of DVC construction at the Grand Floridian.
