Absolutely unacceptable

Dang lady, time for you to get a grip
I wasn't aware the OP was still part of this conversation. At any rate, I thought by quoting specific posters that I was addressing the person/issue quoted. What am i doing wrong that doesnt make that apparent? Am I confused about the point or purpose of quoting?

That's like me saying I don't like ice cream and you telling me for 28 pages that I'm wrong.
You don't like ice cream?!

"We have found a witch, may we burn her?"

I don't like ice cream and, by extension, Mickey Bars. Honest and for true.

The taste of a Zebra Dome would gag a maggot.

They have been running extra ferries from the TTC as well as extra resort launches. It does not look like u are required to fold strollers on the ferry (just watched a group getting off from my balcony).

The monorail has not been closed everyday...and it appears to run occasionally during the closure hours.

Not sure how the busses are working because we have been taking the boats.

The monorail has been closing at 10:00 - 10:30 every night for both MK and Epcot

I'm lactose intolerant but I like Mickey bars... it makes it doubly sinful when I get to eat one ;)

But I don't like TSM

According to what I read, the closure is for two reasons:

1. A crane will be lifting construction materials over the monorail track and, for safety reasons, they don't want the monorails to be in service.

2. They are doing work on the track in the area that was damaged this winter, causing the previously complained about monorail slowdown, and scheduled work on another part of the monorail track.

It sounds like, since the closure is due to both construction and damage to the track, it was really unavoidable. A frustration for those in a monorail resort, sure, but it had to happen.

I wonder how put out peole would be if something fell from the crane - crushed the monorail and their family.

Or if the monorail fell from the track in a ball of fire.

Talk about putting your flame suit on.

WHAT???

Logically, that makes a lot of sense. I would just hope they didn't do it during my trip.

I understand what you mean about being stranded on the highway in the sky. We were stuck there for about 15 minutes one time, and it felt like forever, especially if you have to go to the bathroom. That's why now I always go to the bathroom before I ride the monorail.:thumbsup2

Finally someone I can admire for telling the truth.:thumbsup2

I know none of us are ever going to agree about everything concerning Disney. And some folks in this thread really want to hate them, but they just can not walk away from them either which is a really weird relationship to me.

But honestly I think you are one of the first to admit what most in this thread who are griping want.

They want the monorail fixed so it does not sit on the track, they want new attractions, they want everything working safely and up to date, "but" they don't want it to inconvenience them.

I would guess, Disney's known about this closure for quite some time. Why didn't they inform guests, months ago? I've booked hotels, that offered full disclosure, regarding construction, etc..why didn't Disney?

Disney should build some low-maintenance, cheap hotels, stick them on the monorail path, and charge deluxe resort prices, because what I have gathered from this thread is the only reason people stay at deluxe resorts is the monorail.

Well, I don't care about the monorail as I usually stay at the Beach Club, but I stay there exclusively because of the location: I love walking to Epcot and DHS (yes, I walk to DHS).
And i have never set foot in SAB. If Disney had put Pop where the BC currently is, I would stay at Pop. Even with Pop amenities.

I am not saying that everyone chooses BC because of a single factor (location/ transportation), but I do. It's perfectly possible that people choose the Poly only because, or at least mainly because, of the monorail.

Actually Disney subcontracts lots of their construction work out and it is very possible they did not have an exact date for the crane work.

However they have also learned that if you tell people in advance, they change their plans and then it does not happen, they get mad about that too.

So there is no way to do this and please everyone.

I do understand the safety issues here, I also understand what it is like to pay mega bucks to stay at these resorts. When you are paying a premium price, you should get what you pay for. Since they are doing this construction at "peak" time, they should not have the room rates at "peak" rate.. they should have them at "value" since all that you are paying for are not going to be accessible during all the hours they should be. There are going to be down times involved. I am sure if it were handled that way, there would be no complaints on this board.. you get what you pay for in so many words, now you aren't. :teacher: It is all a money game.. Disney must do the work, but won't budge on the rates.. and that is wrong. :sad2:

I don't buy, Disney "didn't know".. Disney didn't inform guests because it's less expensive to offer compensation, rather than lose bookings. Guests aren't informed, until it's too late. They, either, suck it up or...suck it up.

Disney's making a habit of "surprise" closures. A really crummy way to treat customers. I don't like, the current trends... or paying a premium for less...
