Absolutely unacceptable

I saw it, so?

Maybe I was confused but, weren't you basically questioning the truth of what was said? I was just showing you the source. Juju was simple stating what was told by a cast member. I have no reason to doubt it.

No I am not confused at all. Simple economics 101.The monorail resorts hold some of the highest price tags in disney.Without the monorail for 6 and 1/2 hours a day(posted schedule) you might as well go to a less expensive option. Lets also not forget you will also lose the ability to ride the monorail to the epcot line at the TTC. So you its actually two parks being affected.
Oh. I missed the report or thread that indicated the guests at these three resorts are being denied access to the TTC. Or do you mean the GF and CR guests (and Poly guests who opt not to walk) will have to take a relatively direct bus ride to/from the TTC on occasion?

And it appears the posted schedule is a worst-case estimate. Somebody who's there said the monorail restarted by 3 today?

When? And even if it was once it is not now, is it?
Years and years ago, there used to be a sign at the bottom of the Resorts monorail ramp stating that it was for resort guests only. I don't know if was all the time, or just at closing.

Then Disney realized guests using the monorail would spend money at the MK-area resorts, if only we could get to them, and - voila!

I understand it's walking distance to two parks. The walk between Epcot and YC/BC is about the same distance as the one between MK and the Contemporary (a walk which hasn't been mentioned much on this thread, but about which many people complain when denied monorail access: 'too far'; 'what if it rains'; 'difficult for little kids and old people').

I thought that, too, but I think the Contemporary isn't being mentioned much because the OP was concerned about the Poly... not like the OP is even reading this anymore.

Which is annoying because I post threads with legitimate questions that no one responds to.... someone posts a rant thread and everyone responds. Perhaps I should begin to make angry thread titles to entice people to read...

On the other hand, it's about 15-25 minutes to DHS. Yes, I know there are Friendship boats. They seem to work great between the two parks, including stops at the three resort groups. But, bluntly, those same boats seem not to be good enough for the guests at the Polynesian. I have no idea how the GF guests feel. I haven't seen any complaints from any.
Actually, they aren't the same boats. The Friendship boats are FREAKING SLOW, and I always manage to beat them on foot. I would much rather ride the boats to/from the Poly. However, I wasn't arguing my case, just trying to validate other people's decisions, as not to be a "AESOP."

Not to mention, you have to enter Epcot through International Gateway, and World Showcase doesn't open until 11:00 AM most days, so it's about a 15 minute walk to the front of the park, as well.

And not everybody who's changing resorts is moving to an Epcot-area resort.
Who said they were? :confused3 It's a common suggestion because if someone is looking for convenience to the parks, they are a good option. However, if someone was dead-set on the monorail and is now just looking to save money, obviously the values or the moderates would probably be a better fit.

Now that all of your questions are answered...

Someone. Please. Kill. This. Thread.

If you are the least bit familar with the monorail resorts you know that you only need to hop on the monorail and get off at the TTC and then can hop on the epcot line. Now if you wanted to go from 11.30 to 6.00 you would either need to walk which is a long one from GF and not feasable from the CR.Or find alternate transportation to TTC. So thus now you have a greater hassle to go to epcot. Also if you have listened to our handicapped friends on these boards they have stated many times the monorail is a much much more convient way to get around in scooters to the parks. This makes a bigger mess for them too.Kinda throws a monkey wrench in it for them too! You also can not rely on the fact that it may start ahead of schedule either.

Contrary to an earlier comment....I'm pretty sure we ALL pay for the Monorail. I honestly doubt Disney sits around the table and buys into a plan that they will charge extra for a "cooler/mini-fridge" in your Value resort but agree that the Monorail should be a freebie.

The resort in question is promoted with the Monorail being a selling point worth paying the extra bucks for. One would expect a company that can crank out thousands of turkey legs a day without blinking, the common courtesy to inform the *insert number of guests the Poly houses here during this timeframe* about the interruption ahead of time.

It's not like doing that takes alot of "magic" or anything.

I do not know why you are confused, I think it is pretty clear what I meant.

Do you actually believe that many people will change their entire vacation which obviously rotated around MK to Epcot or other areas just because they do not have monorail for few hours but still have boats and bus that still let them zip back and forth all day long?

Do you always believe what CM tells you on a phone?

Do you always believe what you read here?

Look, i know it sucks. But the monorail is mechanical. Mechanical things wear out and need maintenance. It's the nature of the beast. You just happen to be unlucky enough to be affected.

Call Disney, ask to be downgraded if you want. My only question, though, is ... Is the only rwason you are staying in a deluxe hotel is access to the Magic Kingdom monorail? You might want to reconsider your priorities.

But the main reason for the shut down during the day is the construction on the DVC at the GF, not maintenance needed by the monorail. WDW is likely taking care of some monorail maintenance during the shutdown as well, but that wasn't the driving force behind the decision on the 11am-6pm shutdowns.

NexGen's "coming soon" and I wouldn't bet against it.
Really? Could I ask why you think providing additional perks/privileges to some guests based on what resort they choose would, at the same time or ever, result in Disney denying access to those same properties to persons not staying in/at them?

Well, here we go again. Some posters, no longer, want this subject discussed. So, they will make sure, it's closed. If, you're tired of the subject, why not just "unsubscribe"?:confused3

I agree. Would you like me to work on some random thread titles for you? Using the word "vent" usually gets reaction; not necessarily the responses you want, but reaction.

I thought it was pretty surprising that a CM would actually tell my cousin that a lot of other people were switching resorts because of the monorail The very fact that it was said makes me think that yes, "people will change their entire vacation which obviously rotated around MK to Epcot or other areas just because they do not have monorail for few hours but still have boats and bus that still let them zip back and forth all day long".

Which in many cases exactly what people want, attention...

To the first question YES. I absolutely would never pay the kind of money that the OP paid a night and not have monorail service for 6 and 1/2 hours a day, hardly a few hours. These are hours when I have stayed at the poly in the past that swimming and eating are top prioities.I have also found the other watercraft servicing the poly in the past to be way slower than monorail. If memory serves they stop at the GF and poly both,so it is not as quick.Especially if they are not running alot of them. The answers to your other two questions are no and no.However I would see no reason for a cast member to lie about people switching. I think quite few people including myself think the poly and GF prices are extremely high, especially in peak season which it is now. I realize not everyone shares the same financial boundaries so I understand that the difference of opinion can come from an affordability point.

Phone CMs say lots of things, in many cases whatever they feel like at this moment.
