Absolute proof that Reams road existed prior to Disney & More

My knee-jerk reaction is River Country, but I believe that would be just west of that picture, and that's where the Fort Wilderness beach is.

Your Right, River Country would be on the very far left side and off the picture a bit, just below the triangle piece of land that sticks out. The beach would be on the right hand side of the triangle piece of land.

This image below is a picture taken in 1944 and is of 192 and Lake Cecile. Looks like the open field area which is easily seen in both pictures is still able to be accessed via a back area of Cracker Barrels parking lot. This picture is important because it helps identify the picture after it as there are no distinguishable landmarks.

This picture shows the future location of Celebration. It is the next photo in sequence from the above picture. 192 can be seen right at the top.

Below is a 1969 Photo of the land that now makes up Orange Lake Resort and of course 192

Now lets go back a few years to 1944 and look, no 192!

Now jump to 1954 and look, we have 192. Without adding another picture of the same area, I have a image from 1947 that shows no 192 so it is safe to say this part of 192 was not added until sometime between 1947 and 1954

Below is Orlando International Airport (MCO) 1947 and below it is MCO in 1969. The 1954 picture had all of the airport blacked out on the image, probably some weird security issue although I am not sure why the 1947 image is untouched if that is the case.

exactly what I was going to say. I also believe (as I think it says in the wiki article) that it was one of the AFB on the front lines of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and also was the base from where a spy plane pilot took off on the mission where he was shot down over Cuba.

Reams Road. It's a road out behind the Magic Kingdom that borders the backstage area.

Plus on that other thread it was proven that once you turn onto Reams Road you are on Orlando city property and are no longer on WDW property.

A great example would be the Crossroads Plaza in Lake Buena Vista/535. If you are driving down Hotel Plaza BLVD once you turn left or right onto 535 or go across the street into the Crossroads Plaza you are officially off Walt Disney World property. Well if you have driven there before you know they have a sign saying Welcome to Walt Disney World, so you know when you are on property and are off property. Using Reams Road as an example I already mentioned the apartment complex that was across the street from the Cast Member parking lot for the Magic Kingdom. So anyone living across the street is on Orlando property which has nothing to do with Walt Disney World property.

More properly, RCID property. I did read somewhere that it might have been incorporated as part of RCID originally, but was de-incorporated like other locations when it became residential. Don't know if that was true though.

I think in other cases Disney can still own the land outside of RCID, but is then subject to other laws, zoning, etc.

Well, to be technical, it's not in the city of Orlando either. That entire area outside Disney's north gate is in unincorporated Orange County and is the private property of dozens of different land owners. The city limits of Orlando are pretty far off from there. If street signs have the little orange and orange leaf on it, it's unincorporated Orange County. If street signs have a blue water fountain emblem on them, then you're in the Orlando city limits.

If you turn right onto Reams Road and go to CR 535 there are some apartment and housing subdivisions that use Windermere, Florida as their mailing address but are not in Windermere. If you go left on Reams Road there are some subdivisions such as Independence that use Winter Garden for mailing addresses but are not in Winter Garden. I'm not sure what city mailing address the apartments directly outside the north gate use; just depends which post office delivers out there. Addresses within Disney property mostly use Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 for mail although rarely I've seen Bay Lake, FL 32821. (All 4 theme parks are technically in Bay Lake, FL).
