? about white noise and infants

DD7mos was colic and has since "grown out of it", but the sweaper noise at night really seems to keep her asleep all night, or helps her get back to sleep. We're going to Disney in Sept. Does anyone have any experience with traveling with an infant like this? DD3.8 will be with us too and I'm just concerned that the "noise" will bother her. I was going to have DD7mos sleep in the pack and play and try keep the CD player near her. Any other suggestions? THANKS!!

Hi... I had the same experience with both my kids... now 11 & 6 !! Thought I was the only one out there with this ... nice to know I am not

When we went on trips to Disney, I had this little machine thing.. it was a baby picture frame & also a noise player.. with about 5 different types of white noise sounds. I bought ours at ToysRUs back then.. but I know they sell things similar now. The rain noise really got him to sleep well.. sounds like white noise....

Love the sound machine! Works like a charm. You can get them anywhere really. They seem to stock them with like aromatherapy stuff. I went through 2 of them. If your older one sleeps fine then the "noise" shouldn't bother her. They have different sounds-rolling brooks, ocean, crickets, heartbeat...usually 5/6.

Both my kids (now 4 and 1) listen to music at bedtime (I got a great relaxation cd with ocean sounds). The 1 yr old has her player going all night to drown out the barking dogs next door should they get out at night. When we travel, I have some sound machines or I hook my Ipod up to travel speakers and play the music theyre familar with back home. Works great.

If youre worried about your older child not being able to sleep with sound in the room, try playing the sound now at home so she gets used to it by the time you go on your trip. Chances are it wont even phase her and may even help her. Start by playing it very softly then you can adjust the volume until its the same level as the baby's.

You can get a cheap white noise machine at Babies R Us. We use them for both girls (ages 4.5 and almost 1) every night. I plan to pack the machine for our trips so the baby will sleep better while the rest of us are still awake.

BTW, your chlildren are adorable!

I would bet that your older DD will be so wiped out at the end of the day that the little bit of noise coming from the pack 'n play won't cause a bit of a problem!

Both of our children sleep with "white noise makers" in their rooms. Shoot, we all do. At first we had a sound machine like you see on the "gifts for dad!" tables at Christmas. Now we have small table top air cleaners that do dual duty! No matter where we travel one goes with us.

Both of my DDs sleep with "noise machines." We always travel with ours and it really helps. We got ours at Target (12.00 I think). It's made by Homedics and has a number of settings. Strangely enough it is always sold in the aisle that has hair dryers and curling irons. I think it is with the spa products.

We got ours at Target also. It is in with the Health and Beauty stuff. My girls use it every night. I bring it with us for every trip since I am the light sleeper and that helps me sleep

I even made a tape of it when my son was small. It never failed to put him to sleep.

Another Sound Machine lover here too! DD had gotten used to sleeping with a lot of noise from being in the NICU so we had to continue it here at home.

I have been planning on taking her sound machine with us but I was also wondering if anyone knows if there is a CD player in the rooms at PO-FQ?
