I called this morning 9 am to drop 1st 2 days of ressie and add 2 at the end. The CM I had said I had to cancel the ressie and rebook:lmao: I said no I don't and even if I did there were no standard room left, only preferred. I said I think your wrong and I would call back. I forgot her the CM's name . I hung up.
Called back 5 minutes later and got CM Curtis and told him what I wanted too do and he said no problem. We made changes to 3 rooms withour cancelling any.
Just be careful as some of the CM have no Idea how to do this. I asked the fisrt CM when this rebooking started and she said it's been in effect for about a year now. Let's go DVC start teaching all the CM the rules.
I just tried this afternoon and again all the standard rooms were going for today. Glad I walked my rooms.

Last year for OCT I called at 9 am and booked 1 2 -bed standard and 7 standard studios at BWV and got them all.
The year before I called at 9 am and booked 1 2bed and 4 studios standard with no problems. Never had a problem at 11 months since 2002 getting all my rooms by calling.

I believe these days are gone with the new on-line booking at 8 am ( at least for me)
I have one more test to do on Nov 13, 2012

So you walked the ressies? Or at least some of them?

I was a little surprised to see the first day of a 7 day reservation already booked up on the first day of the 11 month window. I don't have to make my ressies until next week, just saw your earlier post and was curious of how fast availability was going. Though I've seen this happen for a standard studio at BLT once during the 11 month window too.

Wow, 7 studios? Sounds like a big group!!

Looks like you're traveling around Columbus day weekend, which would also add to the demand. I do find alot of it is because of F&W and the holiday. I recently got May for 8 nights in a standard studio at the 7 month +1 day window and was shocked.

Wish me luck next week!

I feel kind of dumb asking, but could you please explain the term "walking the ressie"?

I saw this today too. I'm hoping to go to WDW next year with DH for the Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon but the only way we can squeeze it in is if we get the value studio at AKV. Just for funsies, I checked out the availability today at the 11-month mark and, yup, 11 months from today is fully booked already.

I guess I will be walking the reservation, even though I am still not 100% sure we will be going. I know that the ONLY way we can go is if we have that value studio so that is something I have to secure. If we have to cancel, then perhaps someone's waitlist dreams will come true!

Walking the ressie..

Booking your ressie prior to when you actually need it.
IE if your intention to stay 12/25 -01/31 you book dates of 12/22 -01/31 or even 12/22 -12/28 and then call back later ( like on the 25th and cancel beg dates and add ending dates ( if you didnt have enough points to book orig). *

I do this when I book 7 month window, or when I booked spring break and Christmas. You do not need to do for non-busy time, only when you think your dates might be gone.

... * this may change at any time as I know lots of people who do it.

Thanks for explaining. Sounds like a good strategy!

just checked on-line and all standard rooms at BWV are already booked for starting my trip on Oct 13. So glad I walked my rooms.:cool1: This also means those that need to call at 9 am are out of luck for Oct 13.
If I waited till 9am today to booked I would only be able to get preferred rooms(at this time 8;30 am) they could also be going by 9 am.
I know it's Columbus Day week but we go this week every year since 2005 and always booked by phone at 9 am because I needed a lot of rooms. Now that on-line is here it's going to get tougher to get want you want without walking.:goodvibes

Walking isn't something I normally do but we're hoping to go to VGC at DL for a few nights before moving on to Aulani next summer. I am afraid we won't be able to get a studio at VGC at 7 mo. since it's such a small resort (and I really don't want to book a 1 bedroom there nor do we want to waste weekend points) so it's something that's already on my radar. We prefer to save our points for more options at Aulani. What I realllllly want at VGC is 3 nights Sun-Wed in August. But so I might book Thurs-Wed or Fri-Wed online then call back the next day to cancel the extra Thurs-Sat nights so I have the points freed up to then add on Aulani for 5 nights Wed-Sun after our DL stay. It shouldn't matter when I call back, right? I mean the next day after I book isn't too soon to cancel them is it?

You should note that walking a ressie at 7 months is no guarantee -- someone with home resort booking privileges can still book your "out" dates if they decide to arrive then. It will, of course, put you in front of others using the 7 month booking window.
