My dh, 2 dds, myself and 13 other family members are going for our first trip ever in October :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc . 12 of us will be at CBR and the other 5 are at either the Boardwalk or Beach Club...the one with the "really cool pool", according to my neice :) ...anyway can we go over and use their pool and vice versa? We'd like for the all the kids to be able to hang out/play in the pool together. Will that be possible?

TIA,
Anna

technically?
no. pool hopping at the "really cool pool" (aka - Stormalong Bay) isn't allowed. During sometimes of the year...it's very strictly enforced.

but in reality - it all depends on who's on duty that day.

I know that in the summer, yacht/beach club check room keys to make certain those using the pool are hotel guets. Yet, if your visiting your relatives at the hotel, I wouldn't think there would be a problem if you came down to the pool w/ them and their room keys & v/v... And your right, the pool is awsome

Perhaps you could all meet at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon and spend the day together.

You shouldn't have a problem if they come to CBR. I wouldn't count on getting into the Y&BC pool, they have checked IDs everytime I have been there. We even needed our resort IDs to get towels.

I would think if you're the visitor of a paying guest, and you are all together, there shouldn't be a problem. Now if you're trying to go alone and try telling them "oh, our friends are staying here"...that may be a problem. Why not call the resort directly and ask, that way there's no questions.
Have fun :Pinkbounc

I think since some family members are guests there they won't give you a problem but I don't know. I know alot of the resorts do check your room key. During our stay at the Swan you must also show your room key in order to get a towel.
It really does depend on whose running the show at the time.

StormAlong Bay is the one onsite pool that you should not be able to get into unless you are a paying guest at YC, BC, or BCV. That pool is for 3 resorts, and was subject to many pool-hoppers, including people who stayed off-site, and they check all ID's. I would think they would tell you NO when you asked. It is always crowded, and everyone is carded to get in.

SAB at the BC resort is awesome and they are very strict on checking room card ID's. So pool hopping over there isn't suggested. A lot of guests feel that they paid the big bucks to stay at that resort and they shouldn't have to share the pool with pool hoppers. But I think your entire family meeting at one of the water parks would be a lot of fun! :)

I think they check the ID's of EVERYONE. No ID, no entrance. I don't think it matters if you are a friend or relative.

I think they should check ID's because in cases where the pool isn't that large, like the volcano pool at the Polynesian, it's not fair to the guests when the pool is crowded. I remember many times spending time by the pool and overhearing people that weren't staying there and were just there for the pool. They grab alot of the tables which are very scarce as well and there is nothing left for the guests.

People pay BIG bucks to stay at or buy into those resorts, and twelve extra people taking up pool chairs (which can be hard to get to begin with!) is a lot of people.

I agree that a water park is the best bet.

We were just there and they were checking id's. As part of our family was staying there and the other group was at AKL we thought maybe we could all swim but it was no go. I asked if they just did this in the summer months and they said no that it is strickly inforced all year round. We ended up at Typhoon Lagoon and had a blast.

we've stayed at the Yacht Club (same pool as Beach Club) in February (a slow time of year)and they were definitely checking id's at the pool.

I've heard they have been very strict about checking id's at SAB, which IMO is the right thing to do. Like someone said in an earlier post, I think a lot of times it's hard enough for the resort guests to find pool chairs so I think the pool should be for resort guests. We leave in six days for BC so I guess I'll know soon enough whether or not they're being strict about this, I sure hope so. I agree with the water park idea though, the kids would have a blast! :flower:

I know the Swan made you show your ID"s in order to get a towel but not to go into the pool which they should. Anybody could come to the pool with maybe their room towel or their own towel from home and use the pool. ID's should be checked and the pools should be for the guests only because we're paying good money and shouldn't have a problem finding a chair or table and even use of the pool.
During my last visits to the Poly my ID was never checked but maybe it's changed now because during my stays the pool was very overcrowded and I could hear people talking and they weren't guests of the Poly.

We often meet family and we are staying at different Disney Resorts. We always plan an all day at BB or TL and have a BLAST together. Our other time together is meals or parks. Our individual hotel time together is our private down time.

Plan a water park day - all day - swim, relax, visit and have a good trip :cool1:

I asked the attendant at the Dolphin if they had a problem with pool crashers. He said if the pool isn't busy they don't usually bother. He said when the pool is very busy they'll let them stay a few minutes, maybe 15, then walk over and politely ask them to leave. They feel letting the guest stay a few minutes might motivate the guest to consider staying at S/D next trip.

The Grotto pool is a close second to SAB but it's certainly not as well known.
