? about upgrading to AP's

So I sent a text to DBF Chris telling him that HOJO's had their Winter Ent Rates posted. Maybe we should consider a trip around Xmas time. And low and behold I get a text back saying...."Let's book it"!!! I really love that man!

So....my question is if we upgrade to AP's while we're there in a few weeks does that just mean $100 to upgrade to AP's?? I'm not sure if I'm reading that right on the DL website.

I can't believe I'm already ready to plan another trip and we haven't even started packing for the one in 2 weeks!

It depends on the face value of the tickets you are upgrading from and which AP you are ugrading to. You will need to pay the difference between the two prices. Clear as mud?

Hmmm not bad. So I'm thinking Deluxe AP, our tickets this time are 6 days so that's a difference of $90. This is looking better and better. I really should just move to Southern Ca

LOL we are pretty close to you and we just upgraded to Premiums. We got ours as gifts from DBFs family and used the $50 gift cards towards our upgrade so it was only $100 for all 4 of us. We had gift cards from other family too that we used. We had Deluxe APs last year and loved it. Enjoy your trips, they become more frequent when you have an AP, just because the parks entrance is free. LOL

Yea!!! A quickie weekend trip every once in awhile sounds great! I just wish the flight was free!

AP's for our family did not prove to be a money saving venture.

Therefore, no more AP's until 2012 (when DCA is finished).

We went A LOT more than planned, and I justified splurges at DLH and GCH (even at low, low AP rates) for kids' birthdays, and airfare, and taxi's, etc. etc. . . Yeah, that magic AP just keeps drawing you back to the parks.

It's such a hard decision to make right now.....With the way things are I just worry about how things could be in 6 months financially. I'm bad too...I will only fly there...I HATE driving.

Our trip in Dec, with those "oh so (relatively) cheap AP rates" messed us up nicely. I'm the only one getting a trip until May, it seems, b/c of it. It was a great trip, but we should have held out for hojo or just hotwire'd the hilton the whole time...or I should have stepped in to take the money-reigns back from hubby who went CRAZY. He has a tendency to try to spend the same money 3 times...it's bad.

So I can see why it backfired for Danger!

Well...it hasn't really been mentioned yet. But I think he'll be OK with it. He tends to get toys when I go...toys that have not been allowed to be bought when he's around.

And he has a blast with Robert.

We just have to get healthy!!!!!

Oh see, we drive....we leave this Sat. am at 4.....I'm driving the first half at least. I can see myself checking in at the hotel and taking a nap, making DBF watch the 4 kids this time. LOL And I see what DM is saying.....having APs made us justify too many trips last year.......this year we've gone on 2, we are going this weekend, in Marcy and in May so far, then we will be going again in July and December for bdays. But we had free hotel time so our Jan and last weekend hotels were free, the March and May trips will be free hotels as well so that helps. For this trip we spent a bit more but that's because we will have 2 extra kids and needed more room, for our other trips we will book at the HoJo Ent Rate....or so we hope.

What got us for our December trip was that the ent rate was not offered for our dates until the very very end of planning. By then, we'd gotten so used to the fact that the AP rates for PPH were BETTER than the rack rates for HoJo, and had gotten used to the idea of having MM, and so we just stuck with onsite even though I think the ent rate ended up being offered for at least part of our stay. But honestly I think it was offered so late we would have been inside the Disney cancelation policy anyway.

I figure as long as we make 2 trips with an AP it's worth it, our trip early next month will be our 3rd with our AP's (they expire 4/20) this is our 1st time having AP's (should've got em back in '06 ~ we visited in March and again in June).
I just got off the phone with HoJo's ~ I have a reservation for mid Oct. and again for 11/29-12/17! I don't know that we'll make either of these trips, if we do it'll just be 1 trip and if it's Nov-Dec it'll only be 4 nights max, I just don't know what days/nights we'd visit.
Last April we upgraded our PH's to AP's ~ it was easy. Take advantage of your MM and then upgrade. If we return later this year we'll certainly upgrade PH's to AP's again and make at least 1 additional trip with that AP.

It just was not available early...I'm really having a hard time remembering if it did end up showing up for our stay...it was the only weekend in December we felt comfy going and we did the best we could.
