? About Upgrades/Discounts

I just thought about this and I want some feedback on this...
Have you ever gotten a complimentary upgrade on your resort room (upon check-in) if you have booked under a special rate (AP rate or DC rate specifically)?

I have only gotten one upgrade and that was at the GF. We booked it with a rack rate of $298 for a garden view about 5 years ago. Our room wasn't ready and when we checked back at 3:00 they had upgraded us to a Lagoon view tower room.....we didn't even know we had been upgraded until someone here told me....go figure. The recent visits we have made were with AP discounts and the view of our choice. I don't want to have to worry about my view and room so we just pay for it and then it's less worrysome. I know many people here have gotten really great upgrades and it doesn't hurt to ask i guess. I just prefer to pay for the view we want and forgedaboutit.

We got an upgrade from standard view at WL (paid cash not pts)to courtyard view on an AP rate this past October. We only went overnight though -- mabye that was why? Not so sure if they would have for a longer stay but we weren't going to ask any questions - lol.
