? about Universal week of 12/26 - 1/1

We haven't been to Universal in about 5 years & are planning to buy AP's for our trip in Dec. What discount rate (any of the 3 hotels) could I expect for that time & how far advance should I start keeping an eye out for discounts ? What about crowd wise ? Anyone stayed during that time period, would you recommend ? Any suggestions are really welcomed ! Thanks !

I forgot to add, if it woulld make a difference (discount or crowd wise) I can always change our travel dates to 12/17 - 12-23 ? Thanks !!

The latter would put you in the value season. The first would be Holiday season which is more than peak season! The parks are crowded the week after Christmas.
