Moderators-I am not quite sure if this is the correct board, if not please move this thread.

Ok, I have had to cancel my 1 day at WDW and 3 day cruise. I have never had to use trip insurance before, but glad I bought it. I was 1 day short of getting full refund without having to use trip insurance, but DM went into hospital unexpectedly.

I know I can claim my resort room for the 1 night and the 400.00 deposit for the cruise. Here is my question: My airfare had all ready been purchased-Southwest and the tickets were non refundable.

But from what I understand per Southwest, I can use the tickets another time for up to a year? Am I correct since this is the case, that I cannot claim the airfare on the insurance?

I even bought MNSSHP tickets for a suprise for DD11,but they are non refundable as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

First of all, sorry to hear someone went into the hospital.
Althought our flights are booked with Delta, they were also nonrefundable. Our travel agent told us that if we did have to cancel, we would not get the flight cost back, but that we would have a year to use them with a penalty fee.
I would check with the travel insurance and the airlines themselves to get a definate answer though.
Hope everything works out and good luck.

But Delta would charge a change fee of $100 per person, with southwest they give you ticketless travel funds that you can use for up to a year from the DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE NOT THE DATE OF THE ORGINAL FLIGHT without penalty. The original poster needs to read the policy information for the insurance and see what is covered, if the airfare is covered then you can claim them to get a refund if you might not be able to use them.
