About to start running...some question about app?

Hi I made a deal with a friend that we will run a 5 k at the end of the summer together.

I looked into the couch to 5k app (the also have a 10k one)


DO any of you use these apps?
 
I use Runkeeper for my running and bike riding. I love it. Helps me keep track of my pace while I am in the workout so I can push myself harder if I am not keeping up with my goals. Tracks my route so I know hard far I went, etc... And its free.

I just started running myself a couple months ago. It can be hard to get started, just stick with it, it gets more enjoyable. I was at a 13 min/mi pace when I first started and sturggled to do 2 miles. My last run was 5.33 miles and my pace was 9:24 min/mi and that is just in a couple months.

Couch to 5k is great. It starts you off slow and has intervals of running and walking. You can put in a playlist and the "trainers" speak to you telling you when to walk and when to run. You can even repeat weeks if you need to! If it so difficult at first but it makes you feel so good each time you finish a workout!
 
April 24th 2013 I started a c25k plan using an app. I was religious about getting my 3 runs in each week. I've run 2 10k races now, and I am training for my first half. I had never ran a day before starting the program. I just set a personal record for a 5k this week - finishing in 26:38 (avg 8:34 min/mile). When I started I struggled to finish the 60 second run increments. Now I can run 6 miles in a little over 55 minutes. I can't recommend the c25k apps enough. Congrats on your decision! Sign up for a fun run to give yourself a goal. My friend and I who started this together signed up for a color run when we started. Remember it's not about winning the race. My friend runs much slower than me, but she's still running. That's what matters. Finishing is what is important.
 

Love C25K, I use the one from bluefin.
I started using it 2 or 3 years ago and in Feb I ran/walked my first half marathon.

That's great. Just keep in mind, it does get easier and more enjoyable as you get more in shape. At least it has for me.

Hopefully we will see you at a runDisney event in the future.
