About to purchase!

Well, I feel like I should and do own already b/c I'm on here all of the time anyway! I just called my guide to get us started again! We refinanced our home and will be able to put a 20-30% downpayment on DVC after we do our floors! I'm so excited. I wish she'd call back right now and the docs could get here in a minute!! This morning, DH and I had one final discussion on it and I know I have his total ok now. He thinks I'm crazy, but I told him that I would be fine going by myself to WDW if he doesn't want to go! Of course, he wants to go, though, especially as DS (2) gets old enough to really have fun. Yay- so Pixie dust for me so I can get everything done quickly and easily! Then I can get my ressie for our first trip home done. Oh, I do have a question: How long until you can make your first ressie? Thanks to everyone for advice and help!

Tell me, (since my husband thinks that I am crazy too) how did you ever get his TOTAL okay, I am still working on mine.

Well, let's see. I had him conviced a year ago and I decided to wait. He knows how much I love WDW and he really does like it, too. We went on our Honeymoon there almost 5 years ago now and even he would like to go back. His hangups were- 1. can we afford it? & 2. he doesn't want to go every year- can't we just pay yearly for our vacations?

The can we afford it part was fairly easy- I just showed him our budget to assure him. Plus, I told him that if we can aford this, then he can get his new season tickets to LSU football games! We were purchasing a friends eextras and it's just not the same as having them in our name, or so I'm told.

The vacation part was harder- he knows this will cost us more in the end, so my argument was how great for Alex (DS) to be able to grow up going to WDW. I tell him he's deprived b/c he never went until our HM! Also, I told him how we can bank points so that if we do only go every other year then we can go for longer and at peak times or stay in better places and possibly bring along friends and family. I also explained how we can trade out to other places. (I know y'all say it isn't always a good deal and not to base buying on that- but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!) Also, we wouldn't trade too often anyway.

Lastly, I always get my way so I can pout until he gives in. worked quickly this time b/c he was on the fence!

What are your DH's arguments- I'm a good debator and can help you with the other side!

Quality control people told me that you can book immediately when you receive your packed of info, even before you finish filling out the paperwork.

Once you have your contract #, if you are within your 11 month window, then you are good to make a reservation.

I'm going to make my first on Monday!

I guess we are secret twins.

That is correct, I made my ressies right after filling out all of the paperwork and mailing it in.

REALLY??? If my guide ever calls back, I will ask her that! I am getting nervous b/c we want to go in the beginning of December and I know that's hard to get! yay- you just nade my day I think!

Here's your answer: if you buy directly thru Disney, you can make your first ressies within hours (just 90 mins last time I added-on). Isn't that cool?

If you buy from Disney Direct

You can use the current year points as soon as your deposit is made. You will not be able to bank or borrow until your contract closes.

If you buy resale - you will have to wait until the contract closes.

Yay- Finally got her- we've been playing phone tag for the past hour! But, downpayment is applied and the package should go out next week! can't wait to be official. Oh and we have an August UY- had choice of payment beginning on July 15th or August 1st. She said that we can tell her Monday when we want to make our first trip home and she'll go ahead and make the ressies! Yay!

Congratulation... We got our package this week. Scary, but sooooooo exciting. Who is your guide? She sounds great. Like you, we've started this process a few times, and are just now pulling the trigger. Should have done this years ago... Oh well??? Congratulations again!!!

Thanks! My guide is Julie and she's great. Has been very patient and understanding of our changing things. Plus, she knows that I read on here all of the time so she asks before she goes into long spills about things. She doesn't want to bore me if I already know a detail. Just can't wait to get my package! DH now is even excited. He asked this morning if she overnighted our packge. Was upset when I said no!!

TNRobin; I was able to bank before I closed. My guide suggested I do this because I new upon purchasing in 2004 that I wasn't going until 2005. I called MS and had no problem banking my 04 into 05. Of course I couldn't help myself and decided to go for a short period in October(04) and was told I'd have to use 05 points since I had allready banked 04 points. Susan
