Over a year and a half ago, I booked our family's first cruise, and of course it had to be Disney. For the longest time, my kids have begged to go on a Disney Cruise especially once the Dream's plans were revealed and they were able to watch the renderings of the ship and Aquaduck. However, my response was always the same to them: "We'll have to win the lottery." Fortnately, we won't have to wait until then! Browsing the DCL website as I regularly would (and still do), I stumbled upon Dream pricing that this mom of 3 and teacher could afford. It is only a 3 day, but from what I've read on these informative and addictive boards is that re-booking on board is the way to continue taking these amazing trips. So, that's the plan to keep the magic alive, knowing that 3 days will be a tease.
Here we are: Me, Cathy, DH, Alby, DS, Alby the 4th is 11, DD, Olivia (will be celebrating her 10th birthday on board), and BDS, Owen who is 8.
Although I'd been a fan of Disney, I had never been to Disney World until my parents took the WHOLE family in 2006 for Christmas. Since then, we've been addicts- making our way there just about every year for one occasion or another. My brother and his family are also Disney fanatics, and will be coming along on this DREAM with us.
So, for the past year and a half, I've been keeping this secret from my kids while reading these boards incessantly and planning the same. Thanks to these great trip reports and forums, I feel very prepared. I've got my magnets designed (still waiting to be printed), our pirate ears ordered (they're on thier way), pirate t-shirts bought, and the plan for bringing alcohol on board to help curb the budget.
Now, the countdown begins. 35 days until we arrive at the Lowe's Royal Pacific- day before cruise debarkation. My bro and his family will be hitting Universal and IOA beforehand, so we'll be meeting up with them the night before for some drinks and pre-cruise merriment. The plan the next morning (day of debarkation!) is to go to breakfast and have Mickey call to deliver the good news. I can't wait to see their faces! I will post a video for I'm sure it will be worth watching.
More info and pics to come once we get underway! Yippee!
