Hi!

My Dad has very generously offered to pay for DH and I to take our two kids to DLP before Christmas. We are looking at Thurs 11-Sun 14th Dec so 4 days/3 nights. We would like to book the Davy Crockett ranch for the extra space we will get. We'll be upgrading from the free half board offer to full board so will be getting breakfast, lunch, dinner and this Pause Gourmande malarkey.

Before I press the relevant buttons, what do we need to know?? My eldest (8) is disabled, she has cerebral palsy, she is mobile but tires easily so we will be taking her wheelchair with us. Does anyone have any specific advice on managing DLP with a disabled child. My younger child is 4.

Hi,

Have you tought about the adapted rooms in Santa fe or sequoia lodge.
This are 2 rooms combined one with 2 double beds the other with a single and a bunk bed, one room has a bathroom with a tub the other with a shower and a seat.
Which give you enough space to room around when she is able to walk or needs the wheelchair.
You pay just a normal room price.

And you will be at walking distance from the parcs.

As your daughter is disabled you can request a pass at City Hall which will allow you onto rides without having to queue, special seating areas for the parade etc. I believe you will need to take evidence of your daughter's disability in the form of a doctors letter or similar, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to confirm this.

Are you tied to those dates? If you have some flexibility you might want to consider Sunday to Wednesday instead as the weekends can be incredibly busy during the Christmas period.

Also, you might want to consider whether you really need the full board option. I've read a lot of reports advising that you end up with more food that you really need and end up spending a lot of time eating rather than enjoying the parks. Personally I find a big breakfast and a big dinner, with a couple of snacks/shared counter service meals in between to be plenty. The counter service meals are quite generous and we can easily share two adult meals between four of us.

By the way, if you choose Davy Crocket will you be driving? This is the only hotel that doesn't have a bus service to the parks and people don't always realise.
