about those magic bands- update re UK tickets -do NOT link them to magicband -post 36

When is your trip? Are you international? It seems like trips that are sooner and international guests are having the bands shipped to the resorts.

they were going to ship them to my billing address, but i noticed in time and got disney IT to change the shipping address.

as it happens, yesterday i changed the second half of our trip..
the post-cruise segment..
i changed it to a dining package..
so when the CM made all the changes, i then requested that he make sure everything is sent to the resort and not the billing address.
he said no problem. that all the vouchers would be sent to the resort.
we shall see. :)

i do find it curious that disney is paying UPS to ship my bands to the resort.
Don't they have a cheaper delivery system to get them to the resort?
seems awfully expensive to ship bands via UPS - to the resort!
actually, it seems awfully expensive to ship them to someones house!!

I've been told that everyone in selected resorts is going to be selected for the biggest phase of testing. I'm starting to think that may be why you never received an email. :confused3

maybe - i don't know.

interestingly, the second half of our trip now seems to be out of the test.

originally, both before and after the cruise were selected for the test (with magic bands and FP+)

but now that i've changed the second half of the trip, it seems that only the first half of the trip is in the test.

so it seems they made the selection a while ago, and any new reservations aren't part of the test - since when i changed the second half of the trip to the dining plan (from room only) it was as if we were making a new reservation.

anyway, we're still selected for the first part of the trip.

i'm even more leery about putting our tickets on the bands, since we have those two independent reservations, yet we'll be using the same tickets for both...

The bands are not made in Florida so they get shipped no matter what. Just take advantage of the FP+ options.

i was wrong - we're also in the test for the second half of our trip..

this time i did get an email invitation to the test (i didn't for the first part of our trip, even though we are in the test)..
we just got the email invitations for the second half of our trip (we check in twice, because of the cruise in the middle)..

i'm afraid to participate since it requires linking our tickets to the test...
and we have special tickets - all i need is for the system to screw them up..

and worse, we have two separate reservations with a cruise in the middle - but the tickets are the same tickets for both reservations..(it's a 14 day unlimited ticket that we will use both before and after the cruise)...

yet they have assigned us separate magic bands for each reservation..

it's just too complex, with too much of a chance of computer glitching for me to try it...
i don't want to spend hours of our precious few days at disney trying to sort out our ticket issues..

Also, whenever I make a reservation with WDW, they ask me for my address. They then confirm that address EVERY SINGLE TIME I contact them. If you have an obsolete address on your reservation, why wouldn't you know that? Why would you leave it? I often receive mailings before my trip (usually something like a welcome back to whatever resort - we look forward to seeing you.) Those mailings are also going to a wrong address. How do you even make a reservation without giving them the correct address? I guess you can deliberately give them a wrong one, but why would you do it?

I, too, have to update every single, solitary time I talk to anyone at WDW...and guess what? They STILL have an incorrect (archaic - from nearly 10 years ago!) address on file and it shows up every time I log in. I have called several times to update it and they tell me they cannot remove an old address from the system. Last year, all of our ME vouchers, luggage tags, etc. were sent to the wrong address, even though they assured me that my correct address was updated on their end of the system.

Even aside from the Magic Bands, there are definitely issues with the Disney system and others have also had issues with incorrect addresses being used. (Disney apparently saves all of your information and does not delete old addresses.)

Hey There, :)

Did they contact you by email saying you were selected to be a tester? If so, then you'll be able to use MagicBands and FP+ features during your trip. If not, then you have not been selected (if for some reason you never received the email, they will let you know upon check in). What happened was the IT department apparently let these features on the site go live to everyone instead of just those who were selected for testing. That's why we all have the options to select FP+, etc. It won't mess anything up though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I did not receive an email notifying me I was picked for testing but was able to access all FP+ and customize the magic bands (which we received them in the mail yesterday). I just happened one day to see it available on MDE. After spending about 3 hours scheduling FP I read on the DIS about FP+ being available to all by mistake. So I called and spoke with a website CM. He told me that I must have missed the notification email. But if I do receive the magic bands then I am good to go.

If upon check in I am told we are not part of the testing group I will be a bit mad. I plan on printing out the MDE itinerary pages that show the FP+ I have scheduled. I really don't understand why, if even a glitch, they would not honor then use of the band and the scheduled FP+. It's not like they have to put our any more money seeing the bands are already sent.

I guess time will tell...

yes i am in the test (according to the people i spoke with at Disney IT)..

and yes the bands were actually just shipped...

i just got an email (the first one i've received related to magic bands)..

the email is to tell me that my magic bands have been shipped and are on the way to me by UPS and gives me the UPS tracking number..
.

I got my bands the same day I got the shipping email! Now that is some fast shipping! :):rotfl:

what's funny is that in the notification email that i received today it says that i have until august 3rd to customize my magic bands....however, the magic bands were already shipped last week!!!!!!!!
they really need to get their act together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe all the systems are in sync yet.

It appears that you have a "deadline" in which to customize your bands, but if you do it beforehand, at the next "data transfer" to the fulfillment center, you get locked in, even if it's long before your deadline.

Like I said in another post...I'm guessing that my notification email is out somewhere in the abyss with all my Pin Code offer emails! :rotfl2:

I would call them and speak with them to make sure that you can use the same band for the whole trip.

i was wrong - we're also in the test for the second half of our trip..

this time i did get an email invitation to the test (i didn't for the first part of our trip, even though we are in the test)..

Ya. I can only imagine how frustrating it is, but that's why they're rolling it out so slowly and behind schedule. It's called test and adjust for a reason.

i looked at the two emails i received yesterday...

one is for my daughter's room for the first part of the trip..
the other is for my room for the second part of the trip..

so i never received an email for my room for the first part of the trip or for her room for the second part of the trip..
yet all parts are in the test (according to disney IT)..

i did notice that they got one thing right..
in the email to me, it refers to me as a passholder - which is correct.

in the email to DD, it just refers to her as a resort guest, but does not mention her being a passholder - which she's not...even though the room was made using a passholder code....
so that much they could figure out...that she doesn't have an AP and i do..

I would call them and speak with them to make sure that you can use the same band for the whole trip.

i doubt they know themselves...
since this is a test after all so they've never done this before..
and they're not likely to have any familiarity at all with the 14 day unlimited tickets.....
and i really don't want to have to waste a lot of time having them sort a computer problem when we're there...

we only have 4 days before the cruise and 2 days after the cruise...i'd like that time to go as smoothly as possible (though i fear it's not going to go very smoothly no matter what)...

Last Monday (7/22) I customized my magic bands and picked my FP+. Thursday (7/25) I received my magic bands in the mail. Today I got an email from Disney destinations telling me I was picked for the test. :rotfl2:

A little out of sequence but at least it confirmed that I was picked :)

i called disney IT today to ask whether i could link the UK tickets that i have to the magic bands and she said NO, do NOT link them (during the test).

she said there is too much of a chance that it will all go wrong if i try to link it..
so she told me to just opt out of the fastpass+ test and let the system get all the kinks worked out of it first...
she said the UK tickets would most certainly get messed up if i tried to link them to the magic bands..

so as i suspected - i need to opt out....no fastpass+ test for us ....too risky.....
