We have decided to buy APs as we are making 2 trips to WDW this year. We are making a quick 4 day trip in April and will NOT be getting the DDP. This will be a first for us. We will also only be doing one or two TS meals. I was reading on the TIW dining card and was thinking it may be a good idea. It says they add 18% gratuity to your bill automatically. Does this mean the CS place too? Or just TS? Thanks

TIW can be an incredible value. The 20 % discount is on alcohol as well as food and that can really add up. My DH and I find it an incredible value. We bought it for $75 in December and saved about $115 on our TS meals. We have already saved $40.

TIW is only good at a few CS restaurants. I know we used it at Flame Tree BBQ in AK but most park CS do not accept TIW.

If you eat a lot of TS meals and/or drink alcohol with meals it can be very useful. I would look at the places you want to eat during the 2 trips and if the savings is more than the $75 to purchase the card than I would go for it :thumbsup2

The gratuity is added to TS bills only. There aren't that many CS restaurants that accept TIW. The Value resorts' food courts, Port Orleans French Quarter, and Flame Tree BBQ in AK are examples of CS where TIW is accepted. Generally speaking, it's for TS restaurants.

Make sure you check out the list of restaurants where it is accepted before you buy it. We find it to be a good value, but it really depends on where you intend to dine.

TIW is the way to go for us - get AP and go 3 times during that period. Also, no thinking about the tips as it is 18% across the board. They're usually getting less than what we would leave, but if they want to add it for us, and not trust us, that's ALL they'll get

That's kind of harsh on the tip issue. The servers do not have a choice in the matter. With a payment from a TIW diner, they have to process it with an 18% tip on a 20% discounted meal. It's not that the server doesn't trust the TIW user. If I think the service was good, I'll leave an extra tip to bring it up to 20% of the undiscounted cost of the meal.

The first few times you use the TIW card, remind yourself the tip is already included as a line item in the bill they bring you. I have caught myself adding in a "double" tip. The tip line is still open for you to also add any extra.

Closing this, as it is tipping discussion and the OP's answer has been posted.
