Is there anywhere that anyone can recommend to see the Illuminations show without being in the middle of the park? I have 2 young children and would love for them to see it but I don't relish the idea of having to fight with all those people to get out of there after it is over. We are staying off property and will have a rental car.

TIA

Not really. Your only options are to 1) leave early (but, then ,others will be, too) 2) wait a while after the show to leave and let the main part of the crowd go before you 3) go along with the flow of people. You'll be in good company with lots of others who are in the same situation.

If you have a car, is it possible to park near the Boardwalk, or Swan or Dolphin? You could enter and duck out the Entrance/Exit at near France in the World Showcase? I'm not sure how far it is to walk, but I think they have the Friendship boats that go there too.

Please do not do this. There are limited parking spaces for those resorts and you're not supposed to park there just to go to Epcot. Yes, it's nice to be able to walk back through the Int'l Gateway if you're staying at one of those resorts, but that's one of the reasons those people pay what they pay to stay there.

You could rent a boat and watch the show from there.

Really though, I haven't found that the crowd getting out of Illuminations that bad.

It's a great show, so try to find a way that your girls can see it, It's worth it!

when are you going? If it is off season there should not be too bad of a crowd. I agree with the poster to just sit back and let most of the crowd pass. Perhaps with the kids it would be good to have a snack to keep them occupied?

I tried to respond to your message but I kept getting an error message.

Thanks for the offer but we will be there Sep 23. I tried to change reservations but everything is completely booked because of the free dining plan they offered the same time I will be there. I guess we will just have to either skip it (I have seen it before but kids haven't) or just brave the crowds.

The crowds aren't that bad. When DD was little we used to watch from the far end of World Showcase. When the show was over, we'd walk leisurely toward the front of the park. Most of the crowds were ahead of us and we had a pleasant walk out. We still do this sometimes when we are not staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club. Illuminations is a great show and definitely worth some inconvenience to see in my opinion.
