? about the height requirements

Be aware that some rides measure kids multiple times in line! We were there over the past weekend and rode Indy twice. The first time, DS7 who is just barely 47 inches (46 inches is the requirment), wasn't measured at all. The 2nd time he was measured 3 times! The first upon entrance to the line (they actually removed his Goofy hat to measure him. The 2nd before the staircase, and the 3rd right before we got onto the ride. The 3rd time, DS told them, "You already measured me 2 times!" The CM just shrugged.

Keep in mind you are taller in the early morning than you are later in the day:)
the longer your child stands, runs and jumps...the shorter they get during the day.

Just for reference, here is a picture that gives you a better idea of how two people can sit side by side in the back of a log. :)

Are the height charts that are used to make sure kids are old enough to ride the rides fully accurate, or do they allow for "shoe allowance"? :rolleyes1

I'm wondering specifically about Splash Mountain. My DS is just a hair over 39" when he's barefoot. With shoes it, he's just baaaaarely 40". I don't want to take him on any of the big scary roller coasters, but I really think he'd love Splash Mountain. :cool1:

I'm just wondering if he'd make the height requirement on this ride since he'll be measured w/ shoes on.

Thanks :teeth:

Just back from our 3 days at DL and DCA. :cool1:

Either the height sticks are LOW or I'm measuring wrong at home! LOL DS (who will be 3 next month) easily made the 40" cut off. Easily!! Like he ran right into it with the top of his forhead. :rotfl2: So we took him on most of the 40" height requirement rides.

Soaring over Calif: He LOVED it!!
Splash Mountain: His favorite :woohoo: (after Buzz)
Star Tours: Loved it
Space Mountain: Umm..yeah.. didn't love it so much. LOL

Big Thunder was closed. Didn't take him on Tower or Terror. But my 4 year old and 5 year old loved it. (it was my 5year olds favorite ride and she is NOT a dare devil. hehe)

I just wanted to say I've been thinking about this and measuring my kids at home too. I think my 3 year old is going to be too short for the 40inch rides. Oh well. Unless he spikes up in the next month.:cool2: He's in between 38-39 at home barefoot. So we'll see what happens. I really want him to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. :yay:

And my 7 year old is about 47inches. So I think he's covered for what he'll want to ride. :woohoo:

You're all so lucky, having kids who hit 40" when they are still 3! My kids are petite and even our youngest, who is "the Giant" in our family, is barely 43" and he's 5 1/2 years old! This next trip will be the first time he's been able to go on any of the 42" rides, so he is super happy about that.

Just a caution with BTMRR--and this is my own personal thing, maybe everyone else is fine with it--

The seatbelt for BTMRR is a lap bar, and it stops at the top of the biggest person's legs. I stopped riding with my kids a couple of years ago and made them ride together because I was always petrified they would fall out going around corners, I was forever holding tight onto them. It's better that they ride with someone closest to their own size.

I was shocked to see the SM log pic! I assumed it was the same log as in WDW where you sit side by side. DD7 won't go for that. She's afraid of the drop as it is.

Guess I need to research a little more before our trip.

That is what I was going to add. Go first thing in the morning when they are tallest. Measure him the morning before you leave and see if he is a bit taller than you thought.

Remember, as previously stated, the last row (which is empty in the previous picture) is side by side.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip. I don't think he's going to be tall enough anyway. :sad1:

My son (2) sat in the back with my DH.
