? about the castle....

Is the castle at WDW back to "normal" or does it still have all the gold stuff on it from the 50th celebration? I like the original look a lot better and I hope it is back to normal when I go again this coming August. Thanks.

The gold appointments on the castle are still up, and will be through at least the end of the celebration, September 30.

I hope they stay, actually. I feel they definitely improve the castle. The only bit I'd like to see them remove is the "mirror" in the front of the castle.

I also agree w/ the mirror thing- I LOVE the gold and the characters and whatnot but have always felt so-so about the mirror. Good to hear that the castle should stay the same through Sept! We'll be going the 14-21 and it will be good to see it. However we already have a pic in front of it and it's been years since we had a good pic in front of the castle while it was "untouched".

But just to see it will be great!!!

Here is the 25th anniv. castle.

I hope that they take the trimmings off. That way they can decorate it again with something else.

I wonder what they have planned after this celebration is over?? I can't wait to find out! We are going in September of 2007, so if I am correct, the celebrations run from May throught the following September?

man I lot of people slam the cake/castle and I have to say when I first saw it up close I didnt like it, but over the week or two I was there when they had it, it grew on me.

I was surprised at how much better the gold-trimmed castle looked in person as opposed to the various pics that have been posted. I think the pictures can't capture the way the sun glints off the trimmings and make the whole castle sparkle. I thought it was really pretty and wouldn't mind if it stayed that way for a while.
The mirror though I could take or leave.

I love when they do things to the castle becuase it gives you just another excuse to go... I can do w/o the mirror as well. What an eye sore... I will always favor the castle the original way..

I totally agree. I love the gold characters but I dont like the mirror.

Our first trip to WDW was during the 25th Birthday Celebration. DD was almost 5 years old and she thought that was the way the castle was supposed to look. Later, when she saw a picture of it in its normal state, she said, "Mama, why isn't the castle pink?"
