?? about Tapestry of Nations/Dream

If you stay to see Illuminations, listen for the "Hey La, Hey La, Hey La" song (as my family calls it) afterwards, as you're heading to the exit.

Anyone remember watching the Super Bowl in 2000 when the Tapestry of Nations Parade puppets were at the half-time show?!?!

When we were there for Thanksgiving my kids cried about the loss of this parade. Leaving we heard them play the music from the parade!! 3 of my 6 kids stopped dead in their tracks & asked WHY do they play the music if the parade is GONE??? We had NO answer to that one! My family misses it. Even my youngest DD (6 now) fondly remembers the "Puppet Parade".

My whole family loved this parade too. I agree on the earlier comments on the weather and the costumes maybe being part of the reason they ended iit. Can you imagine how many times they must have had to deal with angry guests when it gets cancelled at the last minute?
I hope they can find a way to modify the costumes and puppets to make it more tolerant with the wind and weather. I would love to see TOD again!

I was just listening to my CD of this in the car. We loved this parade and sadly miss it. The music was so moving and so upbeat! I cry everytime I hear it. Even in the car. Wish they would bring it back.

I loved the music and the parade, but frankly I understand why they got rid of it. It was a pain in the you know what to get around the World Showcase when the parade was going on. This was not only unsafe, it was also inconsistent with people being able to do anything except the parade. At no other park can you not move at all through the section of the park where the parade is happening (the only thing I have experienced that was comparable was a section of Frontierland during the Christmas parade on Christmas Day one year). There simply was not enough room for the parade, spectators, and other guests. That said, I hope it makes its rebirth somewhere.

No parades at Epcot, BUT... the driver of our float in AK said that there are rumors that Disney is thinking about bringing a parade back to Epcot!

Add me to the list that thought the Tapestry parade was the BEST WDW ever did. Imaginative and emotional. The best part was the participation of the puppets with the parade watchers. I will always remember my dancing with them along the parade route.

Bring it back Disney !!!!!

Another person / family here who thinks ToN was the single best show WDW ever put on. Luckily I have the CD, have the Millenium Celebration DVD & taped it in 2000. I was also lucky enough that I made several WDW trips while it was running & was able to see it a dozen or so times...

I didn't love when they changed it to Dreams so much. I think they should most definately bring back Nations...

I still have my planning video from 1999 where they are talking about millenium celebrations and the concept for the parade. I tell you...that music has the power to reduce me to mush. It clearly has this power over other people too.

Honestly- the only parade at DW I've ever stopped to watch. Trully beautiful, and greatly missed.
:sad1:

I've really been out of the loop as we were last at Disney 2 years ago and I'm just doing my planning for our upcoming trip now. (Had reservations for over a year, though.)

I cannot believe that they canned this parade. The music, the drumming, the beat, the entire thing was energetic and uplifting and simply wonderful. My daughter (the one who remembers the parade) will be really upset as well.

Seems like a really bad decision on Disney's part. While they've added things over the years to make Epcot more kid-friendly, the parade broke up the day and added excitement and certainly made the children's eyes pop. At least we got the CD that was available in 2000 (the first year the parade was out) so we have the music.

Rats and phooey. :sad2:

BTW, thanks to the person who has the videos on their site. I'm reliving and grieving right now. I'm *not* a parade person. But this one kept my attention.

Yes, that parade is gone forever. Sorry!:( It was never supposed to be continued after the Millineum Celebration, but they kept it a year longer and changed the name.

Maybe they will come up with something new for the 50th Aniversary Celebration, but if they are, they haven't said anything about it.

One of my faves that are now a memory. My daughter loved this parade with the interaction.

I have emailed guest communiations several times on this one!!

I have to agree that the Tapestry of Nations/Dreams and the Hunchback Show are two of the things we really miss at WDW. I saw Tapestry of Nations during the Millenuem Celebration with a full park just before Illuminations and was amazed at the entire scene. I also saw Tapestry of Dreams during a slow time during the early evening and was equally amazed. As to the Hunchback show, I am glad we have video taped it to remember the great showmanship. I remember when there were wildfires in Florida and the actors couldn't perform because of the smoke. The entire cast of the show was out in front of the theater, signing autographs and playing with children. We were fortunate enough to get an ensemble photo with most of the cast surrounding my 10 year-old daughter. To this day, it is my favorite Disney photo and experience. Both my wife and I wish they would bring these back. SIGH!

I couldn't get enough of the Tapestry parades. They were so creative and interesting and it was incredibly fun to watch people interact with the performers.

I do wish they'd come out with something similar and soon. This parade was rare in that it didn't seem like it was an attempt to sell something (like snowglobes, Magical Gatherings, a certain character or show....stuff you see sort of "advertised" in the other parades). It was just a parade that left ya with warm fuzzies. LOL

I loved Tapestry, too. Especially the drums. I do hope they bring a parade back to Epcot!!

What a GREAT parade! My favorite by far! I am very sad that it is gone. Although I can understand the issues with it, I think that the good certainly outweighed the bad! A GREAT parade for kids!!!

My daughter danced in the parade with one of the puppets(??) she was 3 and we will never for get.....neither will she (she is almostt 8)!! We listen to the music ALL the time.
